I agree that the look is one I would draw up as favorable for winter storm action. If it fails and becomes unfavorable in the coming days, nothing we can do about it... I don't know how many times we can continue rolling the dice without eventually hitting the jackpot... Absolutely. I can gripe with the best of them, as we all know....but I don't think we escape this season without printing another chapter in the KU book.....at least NE, anyway.

The 6th is dead but I’m not giving up on the 10-11th. Guidance is still way offshore but we have seen some positive trends the past few runs of the gfs. The gfs is ejecting more energy out west. Need that trend to continue.

That trough axis is so positive... That’s fair, the setup definitely doesn’t look as good on the ensembles as it did a few days ago. I don’t like the orientation of the western ridge axis on the ensembles, ideally that would be more north-south than SW-NE. Hopefully something can break our way, it would be a shame to waste all this cold with no precip.

If this keeps up you might manifest into the dreams of SNE weenies as a shadowy sleep paralysis demon uttering these words repeatedly in a monotone fashion: "Near blizzard conditions on the east slope into town. Just crushing snow and wind. All joking aside, hope you guys get something in this pattern." It’s true, it’s hard to post snow obs when the forum is largely starving… just want to share what’s going on and visually. I sometimes yearn for when the list-serves, bulletin boards and forums were just observations and left it at that.

Even just a few miles west in Montpelier they’ve gotten more than us. 4”-5” or so. We are maybe 3”. It was dumping on 89 in Montpelier around 7pm. Route 2 was completely snow covered with a few inches as well. This portion of the event was definitely poorly forecast, BTV only had 20-30% PoPs south of 89 for this evening. HRRR had a little hint of some disorganized banding showing up, but guidance totally whiffed on the subtle boundary and upper level energy injection that created the zonally oriented band that extended beyond the mountains. It feels like a band often sets up shooting through the Winooski Valley gap and drops heavy stuff there and the terrain blocks it from spreading. The rate diminishes quickly in these types of events as you move away from Exit 8.
