Look it seems we’re going to settle into a long lasting cold pattern.  We tend to have waves potentially threaten every few days.  Sure many may miss but the odds are pretty good that one or more will get us before the pattern warms.

Sounds like we could see the rarest of rare back to back to BACK storms during that stretch. Fingers crossed.

GFS is distorting the meridian component of the amplitude because it ends up resolving so much speed into the  individual s/w propagation movements thru the field thru that period - neg interference wrt to phasing aspects

that situ 8/9/10 has a magnificent subsume variety phase potential otherwise.

Just when we thought we had escaped the omnipresent Tippy velocity surplus...

James thought everything was a blizzard. Very enthusiastic.  Wrote a book about a catastrophic blizzard called the dawn awakening.  He was a good soul.  Very Sadly he Passed away during Covid.

He was legendary in his love for snow and his belief that every storm was going to completely bury Harwichport.  And, he is missed.

I'd rank Jan 2011 #3 for deepest packs in my lifetime...behind #1 Feb 2015 and #2 Jan 1996.

Yeah that was an impressive month. CT was ground zero but we all had our own jackpots I feel like. Ground zero started in CT but then it moved northeast it felt like….CT jackpotted in the 1/12 HECS and the norlun on 1/7-8.

Your area jackpotted in the sneaky clipper/redeveloper on 1/21/11 and did well in the front ender on 1/18/11…then of course there was 1/27 which destroyed eastern half of SNE and you did really well again in the 2/1-2/2 storm.

And then replenished and then some!  Among  the better packs of the past few decades.

Yes sir..that was kind of my point, but didn’t want to say it for fear of people saying I’m comparing/predicting a January 2011.   The pack here was insane that month, as Will said CT was buried; best ever in my lifetime. Had to shovel roofs…everything was caving in.

Then we had snow changing to freezing rain to put a cap on the back and nothing after, we did keep the ice-covered pack for a while though.

The 1/11 - 1/12 storm was so great on so many levels.  My mom and I were at a friend's house while it came down.  Drinking, carrying on.  My gf was on her way up from the city and got stuck about a half mile away in downtown Woodbury.  We all walked through the storm to meet her and just had a great time walking back in the middle of Rt 6 and frolicking away like the kids we were.  But it wasn't fun digging her car out the next morning with a hangover.
