ChescoWx
Today will be mild again but not as warm as yesterday. Rain chances increase tomorrow morning but with only light amounts. We turn back well below normal temperatures by the end of the upcoming weekend and move through the first week of March.

Then summer kicks in permanently and we're screwed getting baked temperature-wise till the count down to Autumn begins again. Rinse, repeat... "Worst hobby ever" per Ji. RedSky
Approximately 5 sqft of old ice is on hospice now the sun angle that just gets in over the trees for several hours through noon is too much. 90% certain it won't make it through the night. Just two days and change from March 1st spring it's like dying at 99yo and 10 months.

Birds~69
With today's rainfall, the drought should be over. Still some mounds in parking lots and may make it through the weekend w/highs in the 30s. After that, probably on life support/hospice... 54F/Cloudy

All this rain did is pollute the living hell out of the streams with salt water runoff. The trout are literally dying of thirst the water is so salty. No significant rains or snow events for the next two weeks does not bode well for any type of drought relief. This is the yellowest I have ever seen the grass at this time of the year- usually is it is greening up real nice. Hell my pussy willow will not evenbloom- the bees are going to die off.

ChescoWx
Cooler today with temperatures closer to normal for the end of February. A few degrees above normal tomorrow before we fall too much below normal temperatures for both Sunday and Monday. Sunday will struggle to freezing across the higher ridges. Some good news in the forecast for next week...we start a slow moderating trend, but some much needed significant rains look increasingly likely for the mid-week period. We are running well below normal in precipitation so any rain would be most welcome.
Birds~69
49F, Partly sunny, slight breeze...nice. Blood moon coming up: March 13-14: Total lunar eclipse The first total lunar eclipse since 2022 will cause the moon to turn red on the night of March 13-14 during one of the top astronomy events of the year. This event, caused when the sun, Earth and moon align, is the first of two in 2025, although it will be the only lunar eclipse visible across the United States and Canada. Many people will need to lose some sleep to witness the spectacle, as the total eclipse will unfold between 2:26 a.m. EDT and 3:31 a.m. EDT. Even if it is partly to mostly cloudy, just a few breaks in the clouds will be needed over the course of the 65-minute event to catch a glimpse of the eclipsed moon. This type of eclipse is sometimes referred to as a Blood Moon, as the moon often turns red during the height of the eclipse. The color can be traced back to Earth as light passing through the planet's atmosphere is distorted, shifting to orange or red before being cast on the moon.
Albedoman
Next wednesday rains/t storms could place a significant dent into the drought conditions. Highs near 60+ with moderate to heavy rains will help melt the soil horizons frozen conditions quickly and get some much needed water through to the root structures of the trees and plants for budding and leafing out in mid April. Believe me, this is a multi billion dollar rain event for farmers and landscapers. Lets hope it comes to fruition and we just don't get burned with another .25 in light rain/drizzle event
