bullseye for me  but this does not make sense . A norlun trough does not set up like this  but I will take the outcome

It's not the norlun on that model....simply the relatively impressive upper level trough that digs as it moves from west to east. Not saying I buy this solution either!

Getting some mood flakes this morning.  Threw my windshield cover on just in case things ice up with the arctic temps hit this weekend.

Made it up to 44 yesterday after a 35 low and it's currently an overcast and flurrying 34 (and has been dropping a bit), with dp 28, and watching some incoming.

Some very light snow has already been reported across the area this morning. We should see light snow mixed with rain across SE portions of the area before becoming all snow toward evening. Snow amounts look light with between 0.5" to as much as 2.0" in spots. It is a difficult forecast for the NWS as the development of a norlun trough could enhance snow amounts for a targeted area this evening. Either way roads should remain just wet during the day with accumulations only on non-paved surfaces and temps a few degrees above freezing in lower spots. Some higher However, by nightfall temperatures will fall below freezing and depending on where the snow showers set up we could see some slippery conditions for a time overnight into Saturday morning. Our coldest weather of the young winter season arrives this weekend with low temperatures by Monday morning as low as 4 degrees above zero.

Wasn't expecting this early

I literally posted an update on my page around 11 am saying the afternoon looks like some scattered snow showers and nothing more. Then that band of snow just appeared out of nowhere on the radar. I don’t think any of the meso models had this, they all held off the accumulating snow till after sunset.
