funny you said this. I lived less than  .5 mile from the ongoing Hurst fire location back  in the 1970's. My parents old house  was in the voluntary evac last week in Newhall/Santa Clarita Valley.  Many  times when I was in high school, I had to water down the roof while helicopters were dumping water on our property and with red fire retardant.  Had a huge firewall/break in my backyard. Believe me a can write a book about my life's weather experiences from the climate/weather patterns from Ca to the mid west to the east coast. From tornadoes and 1.5 inch ice storms in Memphis Tn, blizzards and extreme cold in Wisconsin -25 degrees , to dust/fire  storms in California and Mojave Death Valley temps in the 120's, to hurricanes in Mississippi, earthquakes and finally all the weather here in eastern PA since the 80's

I would get up in the morning in Newhall, shivering from low 40's and in the same afternoon  I would then be swimming in my neighbor's pool at 85 to 95 degrees with 50 mph Santa Ana winds blowing and humidities down to 9%. I have experienced rain at the Newhall house and then driving up that afternoon to Gorman/Tejon Pass (less than 25 miles) and getting my car stuck in 4-6 ft snows (not drifts) with snow blowers(not Plows) clearing I-5.   I actually have B/W photos of this experience I could post.

red fire retardant... that explains everything!

Seems like theres no solid agreement on any 6Z models for the next week other than to show a big dog next Wed-Fri.

I'm a weenie so I defer to those who know. Is one reason for this from the cold air plunging down messing things up so to say?

Suppression with too much of a good (cold) thing....this reminds me of the winters of my youth in the 1970's cold but below normal snow. It was our least snowy but coldest decade in recorded history!

Our well below normal temperature wise January continues with only a brief respite Friday and Saturday before the coldest weather of the year arrives next Monday through Wednesday. We finally do moderate to near normal temperatures (upper 30's) by Friday and Saturday. Precipitation wise we have an increasing chance of some light snow tomorrow PM that should accumulate no more than a coating to an inch. Then showers on Saturday before a chance of some light snow or flurries by Sunday afternoon.

Snow starting at around 1-2 pm and piling up on the field during the Eagles game. Hell yes!

Wish we would have something like the Detroit game with the heavy snow falling during the game and piling up. Shady had a great game, it would be Barkleys turn now...

Man if the GFS nails this over the Euro and others after being straight azz the last two events that'll be quite a kick in the pants. Snow eagles game would be epic.

It's page 22 in the weenie handbook. If a model melee is afoot for snow during an Eagles playoff game in Philly, disregard the GFS.
