Bottomed out at 8.4F this morning just after sunrise at 7:25 am.  The last time it hit a single digit temp IMBY was December 2022 (with a 5.4F) - literally the same period with a 7.0F 12/23/22 & a 5.4F 12/24/22.  Also had the same type of pattern back in 2022 that is progged this year, with a "warm up" around New Years.

Am now up to 10 and rising, with dp 3.

This morning was our coldest morning in almost 2 years since the 2.8-degree low back on Christmas Eve morning in 2002. That was the year with our coldest Christmas Eve/Day combination on record here in Chester County.
All spots across Chester and Berks Counties were in the single digits this morning with the exception of our normal warm spot the Brandywine Airport in West Chester at 12 degrees. The lowest temperature was the 1.9 above zero at Nottingham. Today should be our last below freezing high temperatures for the rest of the year. We should see a brief period of snow and/or freezing rain move through the area from West to East between around 7am through 10am tomorrow morning. The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for the AM. Follow this the rest of the remaining week of the year looks to feature near normal temperatures to close out 2024.

5ºF last night in Ivyland.

Light snow for many tomorrow morning. Setting expectations at a fresh dusting here.

Extreme parts of SE PA and N DE could get hazardous with mixed precip falling on ground that has been solidly frozen now for days.

Almost has that 1994 feel with the deep cold this early in the season. I really hope NOT to get a redux of that winter as we head into Jan-Feb.

I'm assuming he's talking about 93-94 because 94-95 was a very warm winter, especially December and January. 93-94 was wall-to-wall cold, and had the last below zero day at PHL (-5 on 1/19/1994).

Yeah that’s the year salt was very hard to come by due to all the icing.

It would be nice to Jebwalk Christmas Eve morning with flakes coming down.

I'm circling 1/7 for an impactful winter event...my mom has a 9am appointment with the cardiologist that day. She had surgery the morning of 12/5/03. I had to drive from Towamencin to Delco Memorial Hospital in the snow that morning. My mom's health is as good a teleconnection for snow as any.
