We keep an eye on beginning of February. Euro last night was tasty. GFS this morning said what blizzard?  CMC picking up on it as well.

MT Holly- temps were at -1  from midnight and actually rose to 3 degrees around 3 am  until 6 am when the temps dropped again dropped to -3  after the skies cleared out. Radiational cooling is a huge factor the last few nights in the local deeper valleys. Ice fog was not as bad too.

Here in Chester County PA Through yesterday 2025 is off to the coldest start in 31 years since that extremely cold January of 1994. Yet another very cold morning across the County this morning with 8 of our 18 current lower elevation station locations again reaching below zero levels. Most of these locations have had 3 such mornings in a row. We stay well below normal for the next 3 days before we warm to normal levels for late January by the end of this week and into early next week. We look to stay dry for at least the next week.

I began to get a bad feeling yesterday when the MA forum started saying March will rock and someone in the NYC forum posted it can still snow in April. Two weenie coping mechanisms when things start looking bad in the long range.

I still think the first 10-15 days of February will be snowy, but I have a feeling this winter will come to an end fairly early. Watch us get something like spring 2010, where March was warm and the first half of April was summerlike.

I honestly begin to check out around President's Day.  There was 1993, and a few fluke storms in March where we got pasted and melted within days.  I'm not interested unless it's 3-4 days out at that point.  

What kills me is when they show the 384 snow maps and it's dated for April

Same. After the first week of March, I just don't care anymore. If something pops up, I'll track it. But failure doesn't bother me, say after 3/5, the way it does in Dec, Jan or Feb. But that's me. Every weenie is different.

Beings I'm a ski instructor my tracking habits shift northward. Vermont can be very nice in Late March plus the extra daylight!

I'm not used to having snow cover and below normal temps for so long in January. As an old timer it reminds me of the good old days.

I can't remember the last time we had prolonged sub-freezing weather with a "snowpack", as measly as that might be. It's nice, and I'm enjoying it while we have it. Anything else this winter will just be gravy from here on out as far as I'm concerned.

Relative to the last two winters, this one could definitely be considered a win.

However, in the grand scheme of things, this winter is still relatively uninteresting.  If we don't see another moderately-sized storm, I'd consider it a sub-average winter (C-).

Yeah, that does sound like weenie stuff. It can snow in March and April but it doesn't last long at all. We have a nice covering right now, enjoy it. We could use a couple refresher things though.....

Finally got around to updating my analysis of PHL Airport average annual temperatures vs. the Chester County PA NWS COOP/AWOS and Mesonet sites for 1941 through 2024. The UHI impact at PHL becomes clearer with each passing year.

31F I’m glad we are finally coming out of the deep freeze. Looks like maybe something to track next week with normal temps, I’m at 12.45” snowfall so far this season and looking for more.
