Hmm... January 8th, 1979, a 1048 mb high was over the Northeast.  14" of snow fell at the shore from NE winds (fetch off the Atlantic) PHL picked up 5" wonder if that happens this year.

Just thinking this since our pressure this morning was 30.95 / 1048.01 mb.

I think the back half of the winter will be cold, but I highly doubt we're going to get historical cold like we did after that event. Boy did the bottom fall out of the thermometer:

That's crazy. I remember that winter well back in my old back yard a little south of BWI, and we had nothing from that.

We are off to our chilliest first 2 weeks of December in 15 years. We continue below average today with some rain and a little freezing drizzle arriving early this evening. Temperatures should rise to the mid 30's today before falling back to near or a little below freezing at the onset of precipitation. We should then see a slow rise in temperatures to above freezing by 9pm across all spots in the county. Rain should end by noon tomorrow before rain returns again tomorrow night. Rain amounts by noon tomorrow look to be in the 0.50" to 0.75" range. Warming through Wednesday and then back to seasonably chilly temperatures to close out the work week.

dusting on the deck now-  give me a break- no drought buster. The burn ban is lifted now in Lehigh county. Time for a fire with my new fire ring on Tuesday evening. Been waiting a long time almost 3 months.  55 degree high and sunny on Tuesday afternoon. Time to burn the fallen limbs. Last true day of fall before "WINTER IS COMING"

Enjoy! We're kind of hard-core, getting ready to go in here, it's raining pretty hard right now. Tuesday sounds good!
