Central PA Winter 2024/2025

Had a thick coating on everything except paved areas but most has melted or been washed away. Beautiful to watch but disappointed it turned out how I feared yesterday.  Just hope those Eps weeklies are close to being correct as advertised temps for most, if not all, of January will be at or below normal.

Not that I have a very convincing grasp on normal.

You doubled me up, as .1” will go in the books here. Still pleased to see wintry and hopeful for more in the not too distant future.

A lot of talk (well deserved) about Philly and Detroit being on a collision course in the NFC...might have to introduce the Pack to the conversation. Not sold on the Vikings, I like Love better than Darnold. That might also be my bias towards USC. :)

At 9:15pm here in Carlisle, the temperature is holding at 31.6 degrees.  Since the last obs it has snowed on and off lightly.  At the moment the snow is the really fine stuff that almost looks like drizzle.  However, it did snow enough to accumulate an additional 0.1" which brings the storm total to 1.5".  This probably will end up being the final total if current radar trends are accurate. Wunderground radar is showing what looks like a change in p-type (sleet) might not be too far off.  It shows pink coming north from Adams County and into southern Cumberland.  All in all the snow season has officially begun and for the moment everything outside is covered in white.  I'll discontinue my hourly updates for now and be back shortly after midnight with the climate summary for today.

There’s going to be some great potential playoff matchups in both conferences next month.

I’m hoping that the Eagles can earn the bye & make the NFC come through Philly.

The Steelers are going to be a tough out in the AFC. Their defense is so physical. I wouldn’t want to play them next month.

Portal nonsense is so frustrating.  Pribula give up his chance to be in the playoffs.  Teams are turning down bowls due to lack of players.    I really want the time of a team being a team to come back.

This caught me off guard tonight. Don't know the whole story but the timing is atrocious.

Why would a guy give up his playoff run?  I guess because he is afraid he misses open slots but this HAS to change.  If it were just the playoff teams it is bad enough but teams dropping out of bowls is beyond ridiculous.   Imagine if the NBA opened up free agency before the NBA playoffs started?  That is what this is.

Exactly. College football is really messed up. This is a good kid who loves his school and he was FORCED to do a terrible thing.

It looks like one more band of snow is approaching your area now.

I’m staying up a little while longer to see if this band pads the stats.

I like where your head’s at!  Still feel like the Packers are a year away but man they’re not a team that anyone is going to want to play early in the playoffs. NFC North is just brutal.

Lol, thanks, I’m watching MDT like a hawk.

They are getting crushed with snow this hour.

MDT has a chance of recording at least their first inch of the year.

We’ll see what they put on the books in a few hours.

MDT had .09 of precip as snow between  11 pm & 12 am with temp dropping to 32 at peak intensity.
