I’ve seen a lot of unwarranted “hype” about this brief cold snap foreshadowing a long, snowy winter. There’s little evidence to support that. Instead, the -PDO, strong #PolarVortex & MJO activity in the “warm phases” all support my idea of a mild winter, & that’s still on track.

Unfortunately the good pattern look for most of next week has deteriorated. The pattern gets more active, but the cold relaxes as the ridge pushes east.

The GFS on a few recent runs is showing the cold push back east by the end of next week with multiple waves running along the boundary. It’s something to keep an eye on.

PSU is in even if they get blown out by Oregon. But LOL at Alabama being a lock like they are. Every year, criteria changes to get them in whatever.

I have read they can still drop out.  If Clemson wins, committee could keep Clemson and smu.   When I say blown out I am talking 54-7, 49-14.  Should they drop out?  No, but do not get blown out to tempt fate.  Psu needs to show well to keep their home game as well, imo.

The NCAA is an embarrassment. Alabama beats a team with a losing record and moves up 2 spots. South Carolina beats the 12th ranked team and moved up...1 spot.

Agree with all of this. PSU is vulnerable with a bad loss.

Can some one explain too me how 2 days ago we go from cold/dry to maybe a snow storm over the next 7 days. A coastal low/slider just to the south then the next operational run we have a lake cutter and rain all the way to upstate ny and temps in the 50s and after the even 40s when before it was the mid 30s? what key information did the new model run see that had the storm jump thousands of miles back to the west into the lakes?

the first part of the night. Stronger snow showers and some heavy
squalls are expected in the second half of the night. Then, lake
effect snow bands will kick in on Thursday. A break in snowfall

day. The lake effect will continue through Friday night across for
