GFS is MUCH better for the LSV. Looks like warning amounts, especially east of I81. Decent snows farther N&W.

Canadian’s coming in looking way better as well. Good start to the 0z suite. Been waiting to see how things respond as sometimes these storms kind of go away in the models during this particular range. The ingredients are going to be there for a big storm if we can amp and phase it in time to turn it up the coast.

Clean sweep by the overnight major league models - Euro is a solid 7-14" for much of our area, with parts of MD, VA & DE dealing with 18-24".

Great trends at 0z indeed!

Euro was a major storm for the LSV & it wouldn’t take much to get even higher amounts into southern PA.

Here’s a look at the 0z Euro

Canadians pretty aggressive with accumulating snow down in the southern tier on Saturday.  They did do well with the 1/20 storm thermals so...

Gem, which is 2-3" per 5-7.5mm:

Rgem with 1-2+"

WOW-- 0z FRI EURO Crushes entire I-95 corridor with Historic Snowstorm FEB 19-20. ; From RAL to BOS 1-2 feet
To understand why this is happening and WHY it is LIKELY to happen you need to watch the weather video which I produced and posted on early Thursday evening.
Keep in mind that I've been talking about this serious threat around the 18th to the 20th of February since JAN 27. WXRISK blue sky AND over on Twitter wxiskgrain page I made a very lengthy post about this developing threat Back on on FEB 11 .
Those of you who are long-time followers of WxRisk know that I have always maintained that the huge really big East Coast snowstorms like the one we saw in December 2018 and n January 2016 (among others ) you can ALWAYS see coming 7 days out.
With the big ones the upper air patterns are that predictable.
For what it is worth the British model is showing almost The Identical outcome in every possible way as the European model which is always a good sign in terms of forecasting confidence and reliability.
Also the operational GFS is also showing a major snowstorm from Western and Central North Carolina up into Boston New York and Southern New England. but again as I explained in the weather I do NOT use the GFS model as my primary forecast model for East Coast winter storms until we get within 84 hrs.
I posted some additional maps over on the wxrisk blue sky social.

It was quite the interesting night on PA309 over the Blue Mountain. Last night's winds brought trees and wires down some on top of cars which shut it down for a number of hours. After it re-opened, a heavy snow squall blew through dropping about 2 inches, which caused the road to ice up, which of course caused a number of trucks to get stuck and/or jackknife, which of course closed it back down again.

I think we picked up just about an inch and a half last night from the snow showers. My yard currently is a layer of snow, a layer of sleet, a layer of freezing rain, and a layer of snow. It's nice.

Same here. We got a pretty good shot of snow too. The nice thing about that layer of snow sleet and freezing rain is it takes forever to melt. Hopefully it holds on over the weekend and then the cold temps lock it in for whatever comes next week. Helps lower the surface temps.

Dear Central PA Weather Morning Crew:

You're welcome. Thank me now or thank me later.

This place was DEAD last evening...2 completely disjointed and meaningless convos going in our 2 threads centered on alcohol prices at sporting events and something related to Texas between the Windy guy from Harrisburg and the Snow Plow Driver from Dillsburg. Yes...Texas. We were talking about Texas man, we're talking about Texas. Texas. Not the Icon. Not the GFS. We're in here talking about Texas. We're talking about Texas. We're talking about Texas...

Sensing this, I said to myself "you know what...you've been excited about next week's potential for a couple of weeks now. It's time to step up your game and do something about it." So, even though I needed to be in the office early, I stayed up until 1:30 this morning. I, yes I provided updates on the GFS. The GEM. The UKMET...and finally the Euro. I even posted a freaking snow map or two!!! I resurrected the threat next week after 18z went to hell. I brought it back to life.

Now, let's go! Already this morning, models don't look as epic as they did overnight. Let's keep the mojo flowing here!

I was trying to figure out why Blizz was so quiet when the runs were coming in last night and then I remembered he was perched on top of a light pole on Market Street in Philly.

We are at Logan Circle now waiting for hours for the parade to start!

Plenty of time for models while I wait.

I did post the Euro  & EPS earlier!

He probably can't hold a laptop while trying to hold on to that greased light pole. So his responses will be limited today.
