Going to assume the lack of posting overnight is a signal that Ruin, while annoying, may be correct. Again.

This is sort of OT but I want/need to respond to this please:

First, @paweather I thank you for your kind words. In truth though, I do not wish to popular. What I do wish for, and what I strive to achieve every day in and out of both the office and at home, is to be respected.

When I was interviewed by the Director of HR years ago, he asked me what was the biggest goal that I wanted to accomplish. Without any hesitation, I said that I wanted to be THE most respected person in the organization. I wanted to truly be a resource for our people, to engage them, work with them, help them...you know, do all the things that I think an HR person should do but often don't because most have their heads up the keisters and don't give the people that they are voice for any attention at all. Well, that ain't me. And I've built my entire career on Mentoring, Coaching, Collaborating, etc. So what does this have to do with Ruin?...

If you go back, you'll see that I've never berated him, called him a name (other than Ruin)  or anything else like that. I've tried to encourage him to find SOMETHING to be positive about. I'll challenge anyone to find a post of his that wasn't either negative or complaintive. Maybe one exists, but let's be honest here...he's a wet blanket. Which leads me to this - I am far from the person that I still strive to be. I fail, and I fail a lot. In the past, I've been called out by people like @pasnownut for some of my incessant negativity. (I always thought that when I was negative I had reason to be so ( :) ) BUT...I sat back, thought about it, and realized that I was failing both myself and ultimately others. And I'd like to think that I'm a much better poster today than even just a year or two ago. I love to learn. I want to grow, to be a better leader, father, husband...I try and learn from my shortcomings. I got a little harsh with @Blizzard of 93 a few days ago over a comment that he made that I felt wasn't fair to the person he was referring to. I could and should have handled that better. Life is full of learning opportunities...

So, when I made my post in the past couple of days about perspective and gratitude, that was my online weather forum attempt at doing some coaching. It was my turn to try and payback and help someone (Ruin) grow, just like others have helped me grow. And maybe I should just stay in my lane and keep quiet and let this simply be a weather forum and talk specifically about weather...but my own goal in my life is to be my best so that i can help others...and I saw an opportunity and went for it.

It might be very awkward and weird to some of you, that's just the way I'm wired. I want the very best for all of us. You stop at the gas station to fill your tank, why not fill your life the same way?

@canderson - the winds will be here soon. :)

You are definitely respected in my book.

You might be right on the theory that a colder Saturday suggests more blocking and that is likely to hold next week and push our storm south.

I don't think it would, though, but do believe the final track of next week's threat will be effected by this weekend's storm i.e. this weekend is the table setter. In that regard, a track further west would be better I think. But it's all pure speculation.

That's exactly what I wanted - I want this weekend's storm to go west, my friend.

There is a sub that neighbors ours that seems to have a lot of posters who are jealous/resentful towards us.

I don't get it. At least for those of us in the LSV, our climate is very similar to theirs. We typically do better in March storms but there are many events that they do as well if not better than we do. They're ahead of us this winter. But reading their comments, it's like they think that we're at 97" for the winter. They have a perception that just isn't true.

The thing is, there has been posters who have shared thoughts here...Hoffman, Mappy, Chris and others. All of us have welcomed them openly. But if one of us goes down there ( @Ruin) they get pissy quickly all because of the false perception that they have.

FWIW I wouldn’t give you a hard time for posting in the mid Atlantic sub forum. Ignore those who act like dicks.

Thank you for that. You have a great sub, and with as many people that are in your area, there's going to be a few who act out. It's just frustrating because well, most down there have had more snow than what we've had, which leads me back to the point that they have this oddly weird assumption that north of the M/D line it's frozen tundra from October to May. We're in the same boat. Especially those of us on the southern tiers of counties in PA.

Congrats on your nice winter.

It’s been a bit of a rough winter honestly. I’m only at 10” for the season which is pretty low given my latitude and elevation. Last few years have sucked IMBY. So I get the frustration and annoyance. Maybe next week will work out for those along the MD/PA line like me and yall up here.

All good Mike.  I called you out because I was surprised, as you DO carry yourself in a rather even keeled (HR guy of the forum so to speak).

Was just outta character for you.  I'm nothin special and while I'm no HR guru, I follow the same life template you do.

I'm also in sales.  I'm a relationship guy, and that always takes refinement as I meet a diverse crowd every week.  Like you, I always try to be a good part of all things in life.

Ok...back to weather.  2/20 MIGHT be the one we've been waiting for.

GFS has a solid look to it and is very close to being a nice win for all of us.

At this juncture, both A and B string models have it, albeit different presentations, but enough similarities to think it has a chance at being a good one. I'll take that as a + and that's good enough for now.

Cold is (too) fearsome on the GEM.   The end of Feb is going to but some people into the spring fling mood.

Yeah Im not feeling the big cold push to end the month.  Tellies verbatim say Mike will not be the only one in shorts....if they verify.

That said, I'm emotionally investing in next week.  Tic TOC Tic TOC
