A warming earth? The LSV is now in Zone 7a, which is five degrees warmer in 2012.

I think you’re confusing air temperatures with sun angle and intensity. Green house effect is one thing but the question was about whether solar effects are greater today and I’m not sure how that would be possible.

Snow update, things are finally sticking here pretty consistently. Will be curious to see how much qpf we lost on the front end but the next five or so hours should be the big show.

Oh fair I just tend to think they correlate.

I’ve posted before the sun today is imo stronger growing up. I have sensitive skin and could play outside for ~30 mins and be mostly ok. Today if I am out for 10 I feel burnt.

We may be associating age related effects on our skin with something that is not Green House Effect related but I am on the side of the sun burning me faster and less snow accums during daylight hours.   I know mitch posted the 12 year cadence but being here since 2018, it is rare that snow accumulates on our roads when it is 29 or above (during the day).  It could not have snowed much harder than it did earlier and the roads were not phased at 32 or 33.    It did get well into the 40's yesterday.

Omg! Yes!

Hey, I am not far from there and was doing my daily walk and 7 deer were in the neighborhood as I turned a corner. I froze and 2 of them came right at me. I went over to a tree figuring they wouldn't come near me but they came close and ran between a house and it's bushes planted at most 2 feet from the foundation. Then as I finished my walk, 3 of them came tearing down my street, through an intersection (no cars thankfully) headed for woods not that far away. Crazy.

Yes I’ve heard others state this as well, just not sure what the scientific reason for that would be. Haven’t seen any studies about that claim either but am open to them if they are out there. A topic for another time ha. Today we’ve got a snowstorm to track!

I've noticed that too. The sun just feels hotter on my skin than it used to. I wonder if age and thinning skin plays a part in that, though.

@CASH_COOP @Bubbler86 radar has me jacked up for this afternoon. Some really nice stuff blowing up to the SW and frontogenesis is getting going in earnest. It’s going to be fun it looks like.

Here to us getting what we thought we would.  I am primed to shovel and get a work out.

I'm starting to wonder if my no shoveling streak is going to be extended. It can't snow much harder than it is right now but there is nothing on any paved surface. Accumulating nicely on other surfaces.

Yep that h7 stuff is producing hefty snow in SWPA/WMD at the moment. H85 should also align over us for a bit. Those two and good snow growth can produce the 2”/hr rates we long for

Lots of people giving up on staying home and going out so could turn into an issue if we get what we think is coming.
