6z went the other way unfortunately.

NAO heading + makes me skeptical of holding any colder scenarios (mind you mid week has enough neut/neg tilt to pull down backside fun for some), but this is where my heads been since I punted the next couple weeks last week.  As always northers/westers can get backside action,  but down here our goose is sorta cooked.  If we can get MJO outta 6 and into 7, and couple that w/ -AO, we might have a better chance at scoring.  +PNA w/ +NAO just says zonal pac origin air to me, but if AO can get notably -, that could put us in or close enough to the baroclinic zone to keep eyes on stuff.

Rain is currently warshing away the snows from last week. Sad times.

Yeah it was nice for the northers to have a couple weeks of winter.

wash - in process

rinse - also in process

repeat.....hope so. (prob later this month) -  or maybe a festivus miracle.

Whatever falls likely wont be OTG for more than a couple days, but I'd be happy to see that down here.

Penn State got the best draw for the playoffs imo.

They sure did, but it also makes it more embarrassing if you lose ha.  Texas has a great path as well.  I would not be at all surprised to see a Texas Georgia matchup for a third time.  All of these teams are capable of beating each other though.  Low of 35 here but up to 43 now.  Lots of needed rain on the way before we plunge into a few days of deep cold.

Maybe with these football playoffs, we should have the best out of three series (just like they do in baseball). Then the winner could move on to the next opponent. I think that would determine the best team in the nation.

For Penn State to win the championship they need to win 4 games, which is a third of the total amount of regular season games. This isn't talked about much, but these kids are used to playing a 12 or 13 game season. Someone this year might end up playing 16 games. That's a significant increase and it wears on the body. While having a mini series might help weed out a fluke situation, I think it would just be way too taxing to put the kids through that.

That's just my thought.

It definitely would  take a physical toll on the body, and it would be mentally challenging as well too. As fans would get on players cases of not preforming up to their expectations.

Hear lots of people talking about the souther boys needing to play in cold so the weather will be important.    Best LR thoughts right now are not so cold but not a torch either.    If it is near or above, I am not sure weather makes a difference if dry.

It's good to see football players play in the snow and rain, especially the snow and cold. Thats what it's all about. I know when I was in school we played a pick up games after school in the snow and it was fun. tackling and all. And we called the barnyard football.

This right here is why I think a Big 10 or SEC always now wins the championship. Because depth. They have deeper rosters than ACC or P4 teams and that will become necessary when injuries/fatigue become more prevalent during the playoffs.

I am not of that opinion but no issues.  I think it should be indoor and all about the skill and coaching/strategy.   The Niners lost 3 players for the rest of the season because they played in snow 2 weekends ago.

Speaking of which, what's the scoop with Carson Beck's injury?  Feels like he and Ewers have really seen their stock drop this year.  Just a wildly unimpressive QB class coming out this year.

See, I'm of the opposite mind, that artificial turf, despite its advances, is still far more dangerous and causes more injuries than anything that can be brought about by natural conditions.  The non-contact injuries are certainly more prevalent on turf.

I had thought they mostly minimized that issue vs. the Astroturf/Astrodome days.  Do not see many issues in Dallas (except the home teams skill level.)

If every game was in a dome it would be sterile and predictable, and that is not what makes sports interesting.  College football is meant to be played outside on a field at the college campus with alums and students in the stands.

No issues with that but playing on a snow covered field is tough for me to accept.  Rain is rain but snow and people not being able to do basic things like stop is a bit much.  Understand both sides.

Temperatures will be mild through Wednesday before we turn sharply colder by Thursday morning. Rain will arrive later this morning and be over before the PM rush hour. Rain amounts today will be light with less than 0.25". Rain will return by later tomorrow afternoon and this rain will be more significant with over an inch of rain across the entire area. The rain could end as some snow showers by late Wednesday night.

Back in 1994 I spent a weekend in Indianapolis watching sports at the Hoosier (later known as RCA) Dome. On Saturday I went to see Indiana vs Kansas in college hoops - nearly 47,000 on hand in what was just an amazing atmosphere. Roy Williams and Danny Manning vs the General Robert Montgomery Knight and Damon Bailey. Probably a top 5 all-time sporting event I've attended...and I've been to a whole lot.

Next day watched the Colts and Dolphins in the Dome. Probably one of the worst 5 events I've attended. Football in the dome was awful. It did not feel right at all. Place was packed but it was just lacking in every area. First, and what will be the last indoor football game I will attend. Just no.

I get what Bubbler is saying regarding injuries, definitely respect that thought. I still believe that football (and baseball) should be played in natural elements at all levels.

A very southern point of view!  Many of us grew up playing fall/winter sports in inclement weather.  It's a mentality....

I played soccer in rain and snow.  Would not want to do it now.  But again my point was that it cost one team 3 players for the entirety of the year.  An unfortunate side effect of playing in snow.

I figured except if anyone listens to Christmas music, they get an earful of it even today. .

I admit to listening to Christmas music once they start playing it, but I can't remember seeing anything from him on either Sirius or Xfinity. I guess I'm too busy boping along. :tomato:
