20 here this Am.  Not all that impressive considering snow pack.    Only truly frigid nights on the progs now are about a week out and those are still above 10.  Both the GFS and Euro have multiple systems making a run at us from the Southern Stream over the next 2 weeks along with some continued blocking.  Right now EC shows an ice storm and GFS more of a miss or minor out but keep the blinds open.

I'll add this about @Ruin - as much as his posting style tends to be off-putting to many of us, once you wade through the negativity...the overall message is often correct. My forecast low from CTP for this morning was 19, my actual low was 26! In fact, it's an above normal temp morning here in Maytown. The International Airport down the road (club boasts that it has parachute jumpers from all over the world, easily qualifying us as an International Airport) had a low of 25. It just simply isn't as cold as what was originally forecast, and that's what Ruin ruined us with.

For the day, I averaged a -3 departure with my well below average high.

We are off to our coldest start to a year since 2018. That year was the coldest start with records back to 1893 for Chester County. Our stretch of below normal temperatures looks like it will continue for almost 10 more days before we see temperatures rise to normal or above by the weekend after this one. A couple flurries have been flying this AM but mostly sunny days but cold are on tap for the rest of the week. We may rise to near freezing by Friday and into the weekend. Our next minor snow event looks to arrive by Saturday morning with no more than a couple inches in most spots.

Tonight
A chance of snow showers, mainly after 7pm. Cloudy, with a low around 11. Wind chill values as low as -6. Northwest wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Definitely winter.

Clouds always kill nighttime lows.

It's not just the negativity; it's that I oftentimes need my decoder ring to decipher what he's saying haha.

My coal usage for December 2024 compared to December 2023 was an increase of 8.627%.

I used 245lbs. more coal than I did in December 2023. That translates to 7.90lbs. more a day.

We had a cold December overall.

I have used a lot of coal this year. When it’s gone I will order more. I get 2 ton at a time because that’s what my coal bin holds.

I have been enjoying that 70 degree heat. A lot of coal ash this year.Guessing using 2 coal buckets a night instead of 1.

27 degrees and very windy.

How much does each full bucket weigh? My coal bin holds about maybe 7 ton.
