The Nam still gets the SLP far enough north to energize the 500 pass. The 3K is a coating to less than 1" but also has snow for most of us Thur. Dry air? The model is supposed to account for that within its algorithms but yes one would think it would take some moisture to moisten things up. I am in NO WAY forecasting any of this just following along with the models. My forecast for Thursday is 30% chance of light snow (or snow showers in Myra) with nothing more than a coating. If you take the Euro AI literally it is forecasting up to 1/2" for you.

Yeah I know that was just making the point of it. It's a model discussion all is good.

Bubbler86
Since I was looking at the stats, Last third of the month starting... Feb Stats MDT's has 1.91" of qpf while the norm is 1.55". MDT's Mean Temp has been 32.3 while 32.1 is normal through yesterday. Of the 17 days in the books, 9 have been AN and and 8 BN. Feb and Met Winter Snow MDT is well BN with snow only having 3.3" while 6.1" is normal. I believe that gives MDT 15.5" of snow for MET WINTER while normal would be 19.6". MDT will probably need that Feb 27th/28th time period to work out to avoid a loss for Met winter.

I'd be highly surprised if we don't see at least one "plows down" snowfall in the coming weeks. I don't know if that happens or not during met winter. In fact I think we get two more plowables. I just did met winter because it was easy to list out. I think there is a window open for a wet time 2/27 or 2/28...if it happens the question will be cold air.

PS-it is going to be so cold on Thur that even 1/2-1" of snow could cause havoc.

Bubbler86
And there is 27th system with marginal cold. Quite the wet period to end Feb on today's LR models. Some great agreement with GFS AI, Euro AI, EPS (many members), and now the GFS itself seeing activity at that time frame. LSV hammered.
Bubbler86
Who comments first on the 1-2 foot snow map? Blizz or Ruin? Understand the apprehension though, very warranted, though not exactly a shut out pattern the rest of the month. More snow March 3rd though the next PV drip gives us some issues like tomorrow.
