I just wanted to add that I have no earthly idea what any of you are talking about with regard to the history of this board haha.  However, maybe 10-15 years ago I did lurk on a couple of other weather boards, which sadly I cannot remember the names of.  One in particular was geared towards central PA and had a few loyal posters, one of whom I remember because he was like the top dog and went by the handle UndertakersSon.  The board called him UTS.  Does this ring a bell to anyone??  Just start naming some old PA weather boards and maybe one will ring a bell for me.  If not, I will crawl back into my hole and speak of none of this ever again ha.

Nope UTS?I started on the AOL Weather forum. That is how old I am. :D

I'll try and squeeze in my data for the storm thus far.

In Carlisle, around noon, it continues to snow lightly.  It's been snowing lightly for hours, but at a rate too slow to accumulate very much.  It does look beautiful out there with almost no wind and everything covered in white.  My temperature is 31.8 degrees after a low overnight of 26.6 degrees.  Since midnight I have recorded an additional 0.8" of snow for a storm total of 1.5".  I won't melt the snow down until the current storm officially is over.  Yesterday's 0.7" melted down to 0.07" of liquid for an SLR of precisely 10:1.  At least we are getting to enjoy an all-snow event before the mixers arrive later tonight.

I've only been on Eastern and this one. There were a lot of personalities back on Eastern, one of which was a young guy named Colin. He lived up near Hazleton I believe. He made Ruin look like Blizz. There was another active poster from the Wilkes Barre area that then moved to NYC and disappeared just in the past couple of years.

One of my most favorite posters all-time was the met HeavyWx. He still posts occasionally in the MA sub, he was a met in State College that moved to Virginia. He would come in advance and during big snow storms and start talking like Typhoon Tip...I'd get all excited at what he was saying even though i had no clue what the hell any of it meant. :)

Glad there is one sane report from Cumberland.  All the 1" and under reports had me wondering.

Not sure talking about weatherboards on...wait for it...a weatherboard....is off topic.  If anything we are doing nexus of the universe type stuff here talking about origination stories!

Colin was from Catasauqua, which is an Allentown suburb. When Wright Weather folded and Eastern started, he was briefly a moderator until more capable people, and meteorologists migrated over. He was a weenie through and through and eventually got banned if I remember correctly.

There was a guy PSU Hazleton, whom I believe is the true Wmsptwx, who changed his name when he went to school there.

Didn't Accuweather have forums at one point?  I seem to recall they were a train wreck but don't remember the specifics.

Yes, and they were the weeniest wishcasters you've ever seen.

Indeed, 20:1 train-wreck vs. useful post ratio.... The Weather Channel also had a forum way back in the day... pretty similar.. It was before much raw model output and graphics were available, so i remember the depth of analysis of the AVN was basically binary "OTS" or "hugging the coast".

Tuck too.  I am having a hard time fully understanding what is fully behind the streaming moisture from the gulf prior to any phase.

Huhh, thats a good point to ponder

Me thinks its much of what we've been seeing and just overrunning the boundary out in front of vorts and is prob related to LL winds as there's just enough WAR for influx of moisture.  2/19 LL winds (850mb) show it, but now that you say that, it has been a year with seemingly larger qpf fields.

Hey...I absolutely was not referring to your comment being off-topic or not belonging here!  It was a light-hearted comment only because I was trying to catch up on all the overnight posts and got distracted everytime there was a comment that I wanted to post about.  So no worries, my friend.

Tip still in NE forum.  Just bring your interpreter with you.

Dude is obviously brilliant, and "speaks" in a manner that I find myself rereading a couple times, till his thought sinks in and I hear the ding in my noggin...or i just have blank stare on my face.

It happens....

I think it might soon be time for another installment of "A Day In The Life of Central PA Weather" - I have some new, fresh content to share in this year's edition but I don't want to ruin it for anyone before I have time to publish.

Yes, that was intentional.

yes, we're due for it

Some random names that come to mind

Josh Lindstrom

Todd Gross

Ryan Hanrahan

Brian Monahan

Edwards Moran

Ryan Hanrahan was CT_Rain or something like that? He was another one who changed his screen name at some point, but I always enjoyed reading his thoughts.

I don't recognize any of the others.

Sounds like a pretty good line for tonight's 4 Nations Faceoff though!

Todd gross is one of the Grandpapies of weather board speak.   And you know Brian just under his new screenname,

At 1:00pm here in Carlisle, the temperature has fallen to 31.6 after peaking at 32.2 during the past hour.  In the last 15 minutes or so the snowfall rate has increased to the point where there could be some additional accumulating.  So far, though, nothing more to add to the 1.5" storm total.
