Sounds good by us...

while MJO influence may be muted, its proven to be stoudt when it show bad, so now we just need the goodr look as it propogates thru 7 and into 8 to hold.  NAO/AO looking great on 2 week progs.  PNA workable.  I'm actually ok w/ no pig ridge out west, as if and when? it rolls over, like it often does, conus floods w/ pac and not polar pac origin air.  As shown above, I'd pull many chips outta pocket and push em forward.  Hold my ass baby.

Yeah but it is 348 out. Perfect right now IMO.

Exactly…. Bring the cold, keep it anchored in as best as possible & bring moisture laden storms to attack the cold.

I don’t care if we get a series of 4 to 8 inch events that change to a mix, just bring me Winter storms.

We should have our chances in early January.

This is exactly what Elliott from MU was discussing on his X feed last night. He is very bearish on a KU type storm in January but he does see a path to 3-6", 4-8" event.

Sounds good, hopefully we can stack a few of those with cold enough air to maintain snow pack for a few weeks.

That's awesome. Elliott is such a good forecaster. I'll take a 3-6", 4-8" any day of the week!

43 and a nice cloud deck/christmas feeling out last min shopping.  Stores are a lot less busy that I expected.  Many major stores closing at 6 so I guess people are done with shopping.

38 Cloudy here. It was getting lighter out earlier but clouds moved back in.

Below is a list of the greatest Christmas Time snowstorms that occurred between the 24th and 26th here in Chester and Southeast Berks County in the Philly burbs since 1893. The attached photo is from the front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer from Christmas Day 1966. The previous evening delivered the biggest Christmas Eve snowstorm across the area. This was a dynamic storm that included frequent lightning and thunder to go along with the heavy snow. Totals from the 1966 Christmas Eve Blizzard ranged from 10" at Honey Brook to as much as 22" at West Chester. This followed a storm just 4 days earlier that delivered as much as 11" of snow at Devault. Both West Chester and Devault recorded over 32" of snow that snowy Christmas Week! The greatest snowstorm of the Christmas Season delivered even more snow to the area. That storm began at 8am on Christmas Day in 1909 at Coatesville with Mr. WT. Gordon the cooperative observer for the Weather Bureau reporting 13" by 9pm Christmas Night....another 25" would fall between 9pm and when the snow stopped the next morning at 630am. Other large Christmas time snowstorms occurred in 1912 / 1933 / 1961 / 1969 and 2002. Don't remember the 1966 one living near BWI, though I do remember an event in 2/67 with the most mesmerizing, huge snowflakes as I staired incessantly outside from my classroom wall of windows. Odd, because I remember the 66' Blizzard, probably from digging so many tunnels with my brother through the 4-5' drifts on the side of our house.

I definitely remember the Christmas 1969 snowstorm, also near BWI. My father kept telling me to "stop turning around" as I kept looking outside while in church. Lol It did start before church ended, so we got to walk home in the snow. Only about 5" imby before going over th zr, but still great.

I'm so glad it remained overcast today. Most of the snow would have been toast if it got sunny. Hope tomorrow is dark and overcast as well. For some reason, I prefer cloudy to sunny on Christmas Day.

Doesn't look like I'll get my wish, though.

Christmas Day
Sunny, with a high near 36. North wind 3 to 5 mph.

ATTENTION ALL SICK TWISTED WEATHER FREAKS....
UPDATE ABOUT EARLY JAN COLD & EASTERN US SNOWSTORM THREAT....
I know to some it may seem silly or unwise to be speculating and talking about the event in early January. But that's how we learn and get more skillful . Those who are a long time followers of this page and website know that over the last 30 years it has become a clear that the big events when they happen are often detectable more than a week out.
I am using the term Eastern us here because even though the data primarily shows this to be a Mid-Atlantic New England type of winter storm threat is still way too early to know for certain which portion of the Eastern us could get hit the hardest
