Tamaqua backyard low this morning was +0.1 degree.

This morning has not been fun. Got delayed at my first delivery by a frozen valve and pipe coming from the silo we unload into. Had to get with corporate to see what to do. Ended up putting it in the silo the other company uses.

Then, loading the second load, I dropped the trailer inlet cap and it hit a plastic air line that's used to dump the air suspension on the trailer. Well, at zero degrees, that plastic is brittle and it broke. So now, no air bags and a massive air leak.

So now I'm waiting for our mechanic to come and fix it.

What a day...

That sucks. Hope your day gets better. At least I didn't steal your thunder in the low temp. department. Congrats on your low!

This morning was our coldest morning in almost 2 years since the 2.8-degree low back on Christmas Eve morning in 2002. That was the year with our coldest Christmas Eve/Day combination on record here in Chester County.
All spots across Chester and Berks Counties were in the single digits this morning with the exception of our normal warm spot the Brandywine Airport in West Chester at 12 degrees. The lowest temperature was the 1.9 above zero at Nottingham. Today should be our last below freezing high temperatures for the rest of the year. We should see a brief period of snow and/or freezing rain move through the area from West to East between around 7am through 10am tomorrow morning. The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for the AM. Follow this the rest of the remaining week of the year looks to feature near normal temperatures to close out 2024.

Don't look now, but at 270 hrs the effin' 12z Gefs are holding onto the se Canada ridge down the east coast longer along with a trough out west. That combo holds onto AN temps thru at least 1/3. It'll go on longer, but that's as far as the run goes right now. This is NOT what we want to see. Is it just the Gfs suite, idk? But hopefully it doesn't start showing up on the Eps or Geps.

I am sooooo pissed right now.

I’m sold on the theory that when a big storm is modeled 300+ hours out it’ll never happen.

Good news is the the Euro operational/Eps/Geps all agree on a continued decent look.

Ultimately, Gefs ending is not so bad, but delays in decent storms or patterns rarely work out well.

tellies are looking nice as we enter the new year.

IF the look holds, i'd think we'd be trackin stuff a week from now.  Biggest help is that the MJO is looking to go solidly into 8 and with NAO/AO and PNA looking pretty good, just may need a little patience....grasshoppers.

Got down to four again last night. That's too damned cold. Up to 26°F currently. Looks like 1-2 inches expected overnight.

Four degrees? That's a heat wave. I was zero and most areas outside of town got down to -2 to -4.

Oh, and hauling water sucks. This was my best friend this morning.
