Maybe depending on location, but CTP dropped my Monday low from 6 to 2 per my forecast.

Close to your location too.  Several models have it warmer or basically the same Monday AM than/as Sun Am. Here is one example.  Note the temps just above the 9 near you are colder Sun vs. Mon.    I only saw one model getting you much below 10.  The always cold Rgem which sometimes scores a coup.

To give an idea on how cold this December is as compared to last December 2023. I have a coal furnace This December my coal usage has increased 8.43%. Which translates to an extra 9.21 lbs. a day.

This may sound naive, but I'm surprised to hear coal furnaces are still in use. And I thought I  was on TCC's shift list.

I'd say probably a third of the houses in Tamaqua are still burning coal. Even at my work, our shop is heated with coal. You should see the monstrosity of a furnace we have.

My parents were from Wilkes-Barre. As a child (mid-late 60's), we would visit may father's parents and I still remember the piles of coal in the basement. But they used coal for both heating and cooking. I just assumed that coal usage for cooking AND heating was a thing of the past.

I feel like you've said the same thing 8 or so times this season already.

My road hasn't caved since...since...I don't remember the year any longer.

Despite the despair us SE'rs have been suffering through, many parts of central/northers/westers have had a handful of events that would make you and I borderline giddy.

Snowcams to prove my very point.  I'll let you go look for yourself, as the links have been posted by me a few 100 times over the years. ;)

My parents/family are from St. Clair/Minersville areas (coal region) and most heated w/ coal.  My dad did down here when I was a kid.  it was good (but dirty) heat.  I'm primary wood stove w/ catalytic and while the wood itself can be dirty in house, it burns clean in my Blaze King stove, and the heat is absolutely second to none.  We hear it all the time when friends/fam come over.

Hope yall enjoy whatever snow you get today, cause rumor has it tomorrows sun angle will nuke it (and it likely will down here).  Norther/westers just icing on your white christmas cake.  Lucky bas!ards.

Some very light snow has already been reported across the area this morning. We should see light snow mixed with rain across SE portions of the area before becoming all snow toward evening. Snow amounts look light with between 0.5" to as much as 2.0" in spots. It is a difficult forecast for the NWS as the development of a norlun trough could enhance snow amounts for a targeted area this evening. Either way roads should remain just wet during the day with accumulations only on non-paved surfaces and temps a few degrees above freezing in lower spots. Some higher However, by nightfall temperatures will fall below freezing and depending on where the snow showers set up we could see some slippery conditions for a time overnight into Saturday morning. Our coldest weather of the young winter season arrives this weekend with low temperatures by Monday morning as low as 4 degrees above zero.

I don't know of too many who cook with coal anymore, but coal heat is still quite popular up where I live.

Getting some flurries/light snow already as I type.
