Today will be our last milder day as a cold front and some rain will cross the area later today into this evening. Close to normal temperatures tomorrow before a turn to much colder than typical for the weekend before Christmas. By Friday afternoon we may see some snow developing before the coldest weather so far this season arrives for the weekend. Highs should remain in the 20's Saturday through Monday with lows by Sunday night not too far from 10 degrees above zero.

Moving past the holidays they continue to hold a workable look, as the NAO, PNA and AO have +'s and -'s where they need to be, but no overwhelming signals.  MJO earlier this week looked to get into a better phase 7, but then did the pump fake and tried to loop back into 6 (not good- maritime phase).  This morning that appears to be gone, and just higher amp 7.  ENS guidance still lean twds getting into 8, but that's no lock.  MJO influence may be muted based on current ENSO state, but it still looms large IMO and something I'm watchin as we end the year.  +pna is great only when we can get cold press in the east, or if often means were just flooded w more pac air.  IF it goes to 8 w/ other indies holding as shown, zonal to slighly troughed in east would be a legit possibility and a workable pattern may show.  as the current look for the new year is, we need NAO/AO to help offset pac influence just warmth just rolls east or NE thru conus, and we get cuts and post frontal cold (as we've gotten rather accustomed to). 

Was hoping MJO would keep moving and better looks would be showing up, (other than the always good looks of 360 hr ens guidance shows) -but we've all seen them enough to know better.  It's just a tool....fool, and for now they are just eye candy. 

Speaking of candy, there's candy canes over in the candy basket, so I'm going to snitch a couple.

Enjoy - I was never a fan. I was scolded by my mom multiple times growing up during the holiday season due to my bad attitude about candy canes. Someone would hand me one and I must have made a cringe-worthy face...I was told to be thankful when someone gave me something.

Great advice, wonderful parenting. Truly. I was 100% wrong.

I still don't like candy canes though.

Haha yes that Maytown one is a bit funky.  They can be very beneficial though.  The ones they installed on 222 between Reading and Allentown have made a world of difference when traveling through that corridor.

Could nock that green box of 20 off in a day when I was young.  You know the ones.. that went on sale post Christmas....yeah those boxes.  I've often said that I enjoy the simple things...and they are truly one of em...

The ones I deal with regularly (Gettysburg, New Oxford and Abbottstown)  the people act like it is a stop and it causes some confusion. People have to get used to pulling out and merging before they become really beneficial.   The Villages in Florida has 45 of them so people need to get their training here before moving.

While the most expensive option, at $2.926 million, alternative 2 showed the greatest benefit to traffic safety and congestion, according to the presentation. This option would also have the highest impact on surrounding properties, with eight properties displaced by the construction.

By 2045, a roundabout would cut congestion to less than half of the estimated delays from any of the other proposals, according to the numbers shared in the presentation.

At peak p.m. congestion by 2045, the estimated delays per vehicle would only be around 6 seconds.

Planners found that a two-lane roundabout had significant improvements over a single-lane roundabout, Caba said.

Yeah all it takes is a couple knuckleheads not knowing what they're doing to screw everything up.  On the rare occasion I've been out that way on Route 30, I have noticed that those ones tend to back up a good bit more.  Are the 30 ones two-lane roundabouts?  I can't recall.  The new ones on 222 that I referenced are all two-lane and seem to move really well, although I'd imagine there are more fender bender type accidents.

I avoid 94 as much as possible. Plenty of side roads parallel it negating the need to go on it. Heck, I even get to the Starlight going thru the Mall parking lot in back.

Since I  met my wife, she has always marveled at my ability to avoid traffic jams (hate them.) With a map in the car, it's even easier.

Yeah, just one lane which is part of the issue there and all 3 have parking in the circle.

I feel like I get caught in a trap when trying the back roads but it can take me 15 min to get from the mall area to 194 which is ridiculous.  Not always that bad but sometimes it is.

Worst traffic circle I have ever seen. Three traffic lights and a road through the middle. If you leave the airport area around 4 it is truly a cluster.

I appreciate people who can make fun of THEIR teams...goodness knows I have both plenty of experience doing so for my teams. Of my top 5 teams (PSU Football, Orioles, Sixers, Flyers, Steelers) only one has won anything since the beginning of 2000. Flyers, Orioles and Sixers all go back 40 years or longer.
