My concern is precip. Freebie maps look dry during the colder weeks.

D@mn STJ is Mia thanks to Niña. Also, we need the trough axis to be more conducive for passing short waves under us versus what we've had and then redevelop with Atlantic moisture, or it's dry when cold.

Hate to sound picky, but it has been 4 years since a 6"+ snow storm.  :(

Precip looks to be near normal for the first 3 weeks of January. If a good percentage of that is snow, we would be in good shape. If somehow it would be all snow, we would be ahead of the game.

The sobering fact is that this month is -4 and has AN precip, but next to no snow. Obviously, January is colder, but I still think the shape of the trough holds our fate.

SMU will think it got dropped off at the North Pole.

I am sure SMU would love it to be warmer, but If PSU goes in thinking the game is theirs before it begins, because of the temp, they could get run out of the building by the SMU QB.    Last Jan Dallas had a high of 22 and a low of 11.  MDT could not get that low any day last winter.   Playing when it is near 30 degrees is actually not too shabby.

What will be the wind, and wind gusts at game time?

We have picked up 0.93" of rain over the past 3 days here in East Nantmeal. We are now at nearly 95% of normal precipitation to date for 2024. We should see the sun return today with our warmest day for at least the next week. We should see high temperatures well into the 50's before they start to drop later in the day. Tomorrow is trending a good bit chillier than earlier forecast and is looking to be a pretty chilly and increasingly wet day by the afternoon into the evening. Temperatures may struggle to escape the 30's across the higher terrain. By Friday afternoon we could see some snow showers with a clipper type system before we turn sharply colder for the weekend with the coldest air of the young winter season.

Nobody thinks that.  If they do they're a fool.  No team in this bracket can afford to take any other team lightly.

No real gusts forecasted but winds pretty consistent out of the north around 10mph.  Juuuuust enough to add to the chill.  It's gonna be a damn cold game, tailgating even more so.  If we're lucky, ground may even be white due to some light Friday snowfall.

If you look at each teams top individual performers on offense it is very even except one differentiator;  receiving/Warren.   Both Qb's are running threats and have thrown for very similar yard , Int and TD totals.  Both running games featured 1500-1700 yards from their top two non QB runners.    PSU's receiving stats are much more focused on 4-5  people while SMU spread it out among 8.   One can discuss strength of opponent but stats are stats so paper an very even matchup. .

Yes sir.  Reserved tickets as soon as they sent the email out to season ticket holders weeks ago.  I don't know if it'll be a sellout, due to the myriad of issues discussed earlier in this thread, but I'll be there doing my part.  Tailgating bright and early.  We plan to be there right when the lots open at 7am.  Frosty.

I'm sure it'll be a great time. I could have gone, but chose to sit in my warm bar instead. WE ARE
