You really put a whopping on me this time, as my 3-day was only 1.66".  I had to go back to Aug. 6 to exceed that, when I got 2.27" from torrential T'storms, including one that dropped an inch in 20 minutes.

I'll be there.  Give me all of it and more.

Wow, when was the big discrepancy? I had .33" on Monday, I sort of recall you saying you got around .30"? Tuesday night I jackpotted with .44" in about 30 minutes...but I thought you did pretty well from that as well?

Yesterday my tally was 1.68" - did you only get around 1"?

If you get 1-2 feet of snow you may need to plunk down 3K for the room.

I would love nothing more.  Well, the snow that is, not the spending 3k haha.  Luckily my best friend's family lives in State College and they keep an open-door policy for us throughout the football season, so no worries with hotels these days.  Very thankful for that benefit.

Keeping in mind that my days run from ~6am-6am (You are standard midnight cutoff for your measurements correct?), I got .23" Monday, .4" Tuesday, and 1.03" Wednesday.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but anybody keeping an eye on this potential for Sunday into Monday?  Cold is marginal but places in true central PA like State College could see a few inches.  I could see this being one of those events that surprises and amps up a bit as we approach game time.

Yes, you are correct about my measurements.

From 6am Tuesday to 6am Wednesday I received .98" - there is the majority of the difference.

Ironically, they are talking this up more in the MD/DC thread than in here.

Rendell postponed the Sunday Night Football game in Philly due to the storm - they had like 2" at kickoff.

Wait. Didn't he call the NFL ******* for cancelling and then somebody put 2" of snow in his seat and put a sign it is saying "reserved for non-*******?"

Edit. He called them "Wussies."

Later in the interview, Rendell began to argue with chief meteorologist John Bolaris about how much snow had fallen in Philadelphia.

Bolaris said that there was actually seven inches of snow on the ground at 7 p.m., but Rendell disagreed.

"No, that was at 8:30 according to FEMA," Rendell argued. "This is no way, shape or form a blizzard!"

WOW.  Now that's a SCORE!

Enjoy the game.

GFS "warmed" up to the idea.  Antecedent cold is a sketchy slope but 1042 HP off S Maine coastline doing its thingy....long enough for a little fun on the front end.

It was just months later that everything fell apart for Bolaris. He predicted an epic blizzard in Philly that missed wide right. He ended up leaving the station but only after his reputation was crushed for that and also some "activities" he participated in with some women at the station...around Philly...around the northeast...there was one from the west coast...

A quick check via the school's website shows that there are a LOT of unsold tickets - I'm not talking about resale, I'm referring to tickets that haven't been sold. Sort of surprised to see, even though it's a huge weekend for holiday prep/gatherings/etc.

Don't piss off DT:

Let me remind you about my standing policy here. The fact that I am posting on Blue Sky for the winter season doesn't mean I left Twitter / x  --   still have the Twitter wxriskgrains account and occasionally I post winter weather information there.

But in any event it doesn't require you to make a comment about blue sky or Twitter or Musk or politics or anything else. So don't do it  -- because if you do I will  ban you.

If you want to talk to me about it  privately…  send me a FB  message.  But NO   we are NOT to redo  the last 6 months here.  I am not going to allow ANYONE to do that so please  don't.   We   COULD have some really winter weather coming up potentially significant for the holidays so just stop.

if you challenge me on this you will lose
Badly.

This was a concern of mine from the get-go.  The whole format starts to put a lot of pressure on fans.  Many already traveled last week to Indy and many more are hoping to travel next week to the Fiesta.  Then you throw in it being arguably the largest family-gathering holiday weekend of the year and the students already being out of session (most of the unsold tickets are within the extra portions of the student section) and yeah, it could be tough to notch a sellout.  Plus maybe not the marquee opponent many were hoping for.  If the forecast gets real cold or snowy that doesn't help either.  With all that said, by the time game time rolls around next weekend I think the stadium will be full, or at the very least won't be noticeably missing people when viewed on television.  We shall see.

One of the articles I read commented that one of the graduations was happening that weekend which was part of the hotel spike in cost.

Yes, those 2 sections on the east side at the student end have high inventory available. Agree with all of your points.

I also think a sizable chunk of the fan base just assumes a loss is happening and may stay home to avoid being stuck in traffic angry. Again.

Damn shame because I don't see a universe in which State doesn't drag SMU into deep water and drown them. SMU has a couple good receivers, but they don't have a Tez Johnson or Kenyon Sadiq and if the last month has been any indication of how things are going to go, you're going to need to score at least 40 to get past Penn State.

Even though Kotelnicki said he's staying next year, a few big games in the playoffs (Boise State's defense is low level awful) and he may get an offer he can't say no to. This may be the only chance you can guarantee to see a home playoff game. Locals need to step up and take the seats that are available.

Agreed, this Sunday night into Monday storm has been trending colder & more wintry for parts of central PA over the last couple of days on the models.

Here is the 18z GFS.
