That is utterly ridiculous.

For our annual football weekend in Pittsburgh, my son and I stay at the Residence Inn North Shore, which is a couple of blocks from the stadium. This year I paid $269/night, which I booked about 5 minutes after the schedule release. The next day the rates were in the $400-$500/night range...jacked up but nothing like what you shared at PSU.

$2500? That is nuts.

CAPITALISM!

May be due to a lack of rooms/hotels and Gallon Sized Hat and Buckle Texans coming to town.   I looked this Am and all hotels were booked except 3 that were around 1K per room.

Looks like if you are willing to part with over $1650 a night you can still get a room at the Country Inn but have to do 2 nights.  One night no longer available.

The Texans will enjoy the mild breezes in Dubois.

“A lot of hotel rooms available in Altoona and Lewistown and Williamsport and Clearfield and DuBois,” Smith said. “If you’re willing to travel that far, there’s still some pretty attractive rates in those communities.”

The Texans deserve those mild breezes of DuBois!

Late next week continues to look active with chances & cold air around.

Lots to still resolve, but we are in the game.

Proceed w/ caution bud.  ENS guidance notably less troughy on that same period.  Of course I'm rooting for above to happen, but throwing it out there.

You can still ask santa for an early stocking stuffer though.

They'll also be amazed that basic utilities haven't caved.

It's probably that PA Action Weather kid. I'm not sure if he was the 14-year-old graphic designer Mr. Jailbirb was using back during the Scheisskopf und Scheisskopf days, but I don't think that kid has any formal education.

I'll tell you who it ain't. It ain't Brett Thackara.
