He was quite clear that any team not playing cannot change their position as to new data points. The flaw for SMU is if they would not be in without the ACC title. But for someone like PSU, this would essentially wrap it up for them. The CFP needs to make some changes. Not too dissimilar from players about to be drafted deciding to avoid bowl games. I think not giving Georgia and Alabama what essentially amounts to a buy into the playoffs would be a start

Blizzard of 93
A compromise of the Euro & Canadian 12z runs along with the 18z GFS could possibly work for many of us later next week. I like seeing the Euro being the furthest southeast at this range.
AccuChris
18z GFS is close even for the LSV next Thursday. Yes, it was a tick more southeast though obviously not as suppressed as the Euro was.

What is you thought on SMU? :-) I think the reality is with these mega conferences that have formed (namely the SEC, Big 10, ACC being the largest) is that you’re going to have uneven SOS even within conference play. it’s the formula for someone like UGA having the #1 SOS but then Texas other than their h2h didn’t really play the other heavy hitters (and dodges then next year too). we saw similar with Indiana’s schedule in the big 10. Ohio States penalty for losing to Michigan? Still getting a 1st round home game, rest this week not being in the conference champ game, and a locked up playoff spot. im a big proponent of playing either 1 extra conference game or no extra games before the playoff. With these large conferences a championship game creates a lack of congruence for the committee. And there’s always going to be a question for the 3/4 place teams in the power conferences about the CFP. Can one team play themself out of position in a champ game? Id say possibly, while another can’t “play in” not playing.

Every conference should play the same number of conference games too. I believe the SEC still only plays 8, which limits the number of guaranteed losses within the conference. A lot of tomfoolery going on.

A lot of tomfoolery going on. All good points...since this is National signing day I will tack on the method at which teams stay relevant using NIL and TV exposure to draw players. It makes primary NCAA sports, especially basketball and football, lopsided from day one. I do not think fixing it is easily possible as imagine a draft being instated? Your 18 year old kid goes to Cali because of the draft? Also, with undergrad transfers many schools are lenient on it while others require a transfer to complete at least 60 credits to get a degree there so no one is going to go to that school when they are 3/4 of the way through their college credit requirements. To today's points, the CFP has grown as inconsistent as March Madness and there is really no easy way to fix it unless all teams are playing on even grounds.
