I believe that as of now, Alabama would be in, correct? What I'm reading right from the horse's mouth is that the Tide are essentially in.

The Committee chairman said this last night specific to Alabama and in general to other teams: “Those who are not playing [in conference championship games], we will not adjust those teams.” Manuel told ESPN.

Yea, that was my understanding.    If SMU and Boise Win then the field is probably set.  But someone has to drop out if those teams lose.  A hard drop to push out Boise at 11-2, on a 10 game winning streak prior, their only loss prior being a 3 point game AT OREGON.   Boise has a very strong resume.

Hideous field, but strong resume

They beat one ranked team like PSU did and ran up the score on the not so good teams.   I personally think they should be in the top 3.   Greatest Show on Earth football.

The ranked team thing is always funny to me. If you beat the team when ranked, but then knock them out, they aren't counted. It's just funny.

I think a better metric now is beating bowl eligible teams. Guess who has more wins than any other school vs bowl eligible teams this season? I'll hang up and listen. ;)

No matter how you slice it, Boise's resume is decent.  Their only loss is to the nations Number 1 team by a score of 37-34 at Oregon and Oregon had to Rally for the win.  OSU also pushed Oregon this year.      If you go by the power rankings,  Boise is way down the list though.  Difference between the computers and the results/eye test.   Texas is number 1 in Power ranks.  PSU 9.

Wyoming just stayed with them less than two weeks ago, losing only 17-13.  Admittedly, Laramie is a tough place to play.

It is hard because there are just not that many cross conference games.   I would not be as high on them were it not for the Oregon game.

I hear ya but that was also around the time Oregon was struggling to beat Idaho haha.  They seemed like a different team early in the season.  Ah man, it's so difficult evaluating all these teams.  I do feel pretty confident though that the loser of UNLV and Boise is NOT getting in the playoff.  As with weather, I could be wrong ha.

The Peach Fuzz boys are not looking at Texas as the number one team themselves but the Horn's stomped the Conner Stalions out of Michigan.     This playoff thing is turning in to December Madness.

Can some one explain too me how 2 days ago we go from cold/dry to maybe a snow storm over the next 7 days. A coastal low/slider just to the south then the next operational run we have a lake cutter and rain all the way to upstate ny and temps in the 50s and after the even 40s when before it was the mid 30s? what key information did the new model run see that had the storm jump thousands of miles back to the west into the lakes?

so any idea what changed from the 1 model run to the next one to change that much?

If you forfeit you lose it’s an L

Not according to the person speaking for the playoff committee.  He was quite clear that any team not playing cannot change their position as to new data points.   The flaw for SMU is if they would not be in without the ACC title.  But for someone like PSU, this would essentially wrap it up for them.  The CFP needs to make some changes.   Not too dissimilar from players about to be drafted deciding to avoid bowl games.
