Central PA Winter 2024/2025

Recommended Posts

My trip to Watertown did not disappoint. “Only” ended up with 37.5” but that is most snow I have seen in one storm. I did ride through the Tug where well over 5 feet fell.

In this current “warm” climate, LES season will be more severe and longer as the lakes will stay warmer and won’t freeze.

1/2 An #Arctic cold front will traverse northern MD, southeastern PA & the LSV between ~3-9 AM Thurs. & be accompanied by an intense line of rain/snow showers. A coating of #snow is possible on grassy surfaces, especially N/W of Route 15/I-81. Temps will drop behind the front..

2/2 .. but roadways shouldn't turn icy due to temps >32°F ahead of the boundary & partial sunshine behind it. There may be slick spots on secondary roads in the South Mtn Range & N/W of I-81, but a brief/sharp reduction in visibility within the squall line will be the main issue.

Here in the Philly burbs of Chester County PA November 2024 ended with an overall average temperature across the County of 47.7 - this was the 19th warmest November since 1893 (see top 20 below). The coolest station was Warwick Park and the warmest was The Brandywine Regional Airport (KOQN) in West Chester.

Is there something different from the ones I was getting last week?

Oh, I was unaware they had issued squall warnings for the region. I didn't see those but I'm sure they were the updated NWS style. From what I remember, it gives the regional offices more flexibility to warn a specific area - not just county wide.
