jonjon
2 hours ago, katabatic said: @jonjon Do the conditions warrant? The Canaan Heights station almost always gets half again as much snow as I do (I get 4, he gets 6. I get 10, he gets 15 etc) and seeing the 10 inch report this morning shocked me. I might have had 3 max. The sun was out all day here with just pedestrian blowing snow that didn't impact visibility at all. It has been really windy here (but that happens all the time in winter). Its tough to tell how much it snowed with all the drifting, but I would have guessed 6-8 inches here in town, which makes 10 inches a reasonable possibility since he's up on the ridge. It seems like we would have had many more blizzard warnings over the years if these count. Although these storms have been nice events, they are hardly that unusual.

It’s a stellar effort As @wxmeddler mentioned, it's a team effort. We've had a lot of success partnering with organizations like volunteer fire departments, schools, and parks. This infrastructure is easily deployed and folks can realize a tangible benefit almost immediately.
WxUSAF
Today could be the rare day with a midnight high and midnight low! BWI was 45 last night at midnight and temp will likely slowly drop overnight.
87storms
Rain showers. Nice weather to squeeze in between two periods of cold.Yea, but what’s important is that it’s also windy…this way outdoor activities are limited and we can spend more time tracking the 10 day ensembles. WEATHER53
Talked about this DCA is now 0-2F from others . Strong winds mixes it up so no radiational is necessary. Interesting..

Interesting.. yep - DCA is like Central Park (KNYC). It takes the cold air advection to really cool it down. Of course, now that the wind is lighter the urban areas are holding steady (27F here in Tenleytown, 30F at DCA).

Could be @psuhoffmans 3rd or 4th accumulating event? According to my calculations, that many accumulating events by December 6th means we get a HECS in January. 3
