It didn't. It dry slotted for eastern areas, which was worse lol. Heavy snow to sleet is better than literally half a storm.

2016 was cool and all but the fact that Bel Air in Harford County (15 minutes away) literally beat my total by 16” was dastardly. I fully expect areas to my NW to do better in just about every event, but DAMN.

Oh totally. And it basically was a screw job here like normal. I only got about 3". That was on top of almost 3' so I wasn't that bitter. The wind that morning was awesome though. It looked like the tundra here in the lowlands.

The second one was hard to measure. We supposedly had 16" in Severn. The snow was coming down so hard and horizontal, not to mention it was on top of the 24" from the first one. Still surprised you only had 3" though.

I remember being real mad waking up early to snizzle, and then it bombed out and all hell broke loose.

Anyone want to opine on the forecast for New Year's Day if one were to be driving west along I-70 to the PA turnpike and then to Ohio and beyond? I'm trying to get myself back to Wyoming for some winter, and would love to be able to leave on the 1st. (Thoughts about the forecast on the 4th along I-90 in western South Dakota and across Wyoming appreciated too.)

I can do it in three days, but given the short daylight hours (even with crossing time zones) four would be a little easier, but it's tough to get four precip-free or -light days.

I got 5-posted by Randy due to machine-gun posting stupid shit in my excitement back in 2009-2010. Took like a year to get my full posting rights back.

Just figured I’d throw that out there.

I did that?   Damn.  You're a good poster now.  Don't even remember your weenie phase.

Just installed my new ambient weather station imby, got it for a xmas present from my wife.

Tomorrow I’ll put it up on my fence and set it at about 10’ agl. Not expecting accurate wind speeds since I’m surrounded by trees and houses, but now I won’t be looking at other pws obs to report my temps

This stretch really seems to have legs.  Plz god let us score a few storms.

You guys are gonna time the cold with a ton of moisture, several times this winter in DC. This is gonna be good!

Meanwhile, in other news, damn I am ecstatic! WE HIT 84 TODAY!!!!! CAN SIPS says Texas will be +7 in January 2025! If it is that warm, I will run down Main Street naked. This means the East will be in a Day After Tomorrow pattern, laden with torrential snows and cold.

Bengals live another day. Hell of a game.

All Denver had to do was get a first down and run out the clock to get in the playoffs. They couldn't do it.

Burrow could be the MVP, but won't because of the crappy record.

Some really bad coaching on both sides at the end. Bengals leaving too much time in regulation and I'm not sure what Payton was doing in OT. As a Vikings fan I'm not sad to see Payton lose

Some really weird posts the last hour lol. How does a person root against other people's snow? So strange.

I spend too many hours tracking each winter to be content with missing a HECS. I missed Jan. 2022 and Dec. 2018, so it’s been pretty much been since 2016 since I’ve seen a real storm.

I’m not so much hoping folks get skunked as I am that it happens before or after my vacation. We can delay the pattern a week or two. Last I’ll post about this tho - no need to deb on the mood.

Now see I had to be an actual pallbearer (first time doing that) for a friend's late wife earlier this month...And as somber as it was, dang it I couldn't help but see this dude's face, hahaha See I was like 6 years old and the only definition of pallbearer I knew was this dude, and it stuck ever since, lol

I watched Sean clear the snow stake about 11 hours ago. Since then, Bachelor has piled on 13.5 MORE inches of freshies in about 9.3 hours as of 5am Texas time!!!!! Snow will pile up well into the late morning. Might wanna keep an eye on this. The Cascades get so much frackin' snow, it is totally UNBELIEVABLE!

THEY ARE WORKING ON  19 INCHES OF NEW SNOW SO FAR SINCE ABOUT 8PM LAST NIGHT! TALK ABOUT REFILLS! STILL SNOWIN' !

NYD looks fine - maybe some snow TV in the PA/OH part of the journey? Won’t pretend I can look at a map of Wyoming and predict mountain snow but the drive mostly looks chilly with some snow showers plausible

Thanks. Couldn't tell how heavy the snow in PA would be. I am not afraid of driving in snow, except for the other idiots on the road.

As for Wyoming, forecasts are a crapshoot, even the day of. In that report that came out a little while back about the places where forecasts were the least accurate, Sheridan County WY was right up there. A lot of microclimates.

Part of me is trying to decide whether to wait a week and be here for the 7th-10th, but that would be the kiss of death for it.
