Getting weird bursts of snow here. From the looks of it I’d say the rare NW Ohio lake effect is in action

8:56pm radar and 8:33 radar/observations last night. It's just a bit of snow moving north to south. However, I think it makes sense to say some enhancement from Port Clinton eastward. I think the cooler air kicked up the real lake effect bands way after midnight around Cleveland.

Some 6-7" totals close to GR. Yet another synoptic storm miscue. They have said they prefer forecasting LES events because it's more straightforward - cold wind blows over warm lake = snow

Sorry. I do NOT miss Wayne county winters. Wintry paradise this evening up here.

Maybe Monday evening will deliver? SEMI's been known to get some of their best thumps as it's about to warm up.

The snow started re-sticking mid afternoon and I picked up another 0.6", so finished with 0.9" on the day. Sitting at 4.9" on the season. DTW had 1.1", season 4.8".

I wouldn't miss metro detroit winters if I lived where you do either . Obviously yesterday had everything to do with track/confluence and what not. Have a friend on Long Island whos been dying for snow after several years of almost nothing, so im glad he could score a little snow outta this at our expense. Monday will probably just be another in what has already been multiple light meausurable snowfalls, wont be anything special down here.

I'm never ready for a winter warmup, but knowing that one is coming and will be followed by a return to cold right after the New Year I'm really hoping the pattern gets a nice shake up and we are off to the races as we often are in January.

1-3" across my area. Underperformed big time. NWS DLH issued WS warnings around the Lake shore, and schools here closed. They have a little egg on the face today. I picked up an inch from a lake band that formed later in day that did not stay around for too long. Drier air really cut down on the synoptic precip, and LP tracked too far S.

NWS DLH put out a story board on their forecast fail today. I'm sure they got some flack from the communities, especially the schools.

Longer...and colder ;)

-3F here attm. The Clipper held together pretty well for a lot of S and Central Mich. And with the bulk falling over night, it wasn't trashed by traffic and salt trucks so the parking lot piles are unusually pristine white and it's been cold so remain fresh. Not record setting, but so much better than most of our Dec's of late. Despite a couple torchy thaws, all the lakes are ice and snow covered. Not sure about large ones like Houghton but the lakes here I see daily.

As expected Sat was blue skies and sunny! Just seeing how cold it was going to be was the tip off, whereas WUN had overcast and never caved, even in real time  Not many winter solstices are like this. Very cold high of -10C/8F?

-20C right now in Parry Sound. Probably one of the coldest December nights in a while.
