No wind, but yeah, about the same size hail here. I heard it against my house and then opened up my front door (I just got home about 15min ago) and could actually see it, which is a first for me.

Can’t get snow on NYE, but hail? Yeah, sure lol

Honestly, I'm just glad I didn't get a dispatch to rescue a hammered boater by this time ...  (some years wind up having interesting endings.)

Let the deep freeze begin, so I can finally enjoy my 2 months off from 24/7 work

621 calls for service this year.  It's been a good one.   Have a few thousand pictures of weather events to sort through for my upcoming first publication.

we're using that fictitious 30 year average Chris, in reality it was a slightly milder than normal December, so JFK portrays it best, close to 1 degree above normal in actuality

Yeah, this would have been a colder than average December in earlier decades since the average is close to 40° these days.

Possible tornado in south jersey

The National Weather Service is investigating whether a tornado touched down in Gloucester County Tuesday night after residents reported downed trees and damaged pools and fences from strong winds as harsh storms raked across the state on New Year’s Eve.

Week ahead outlook:

The coming week will be a transitional period. Very mild weather will give way to progressively colder weather. Snowfall will still likely be limited in the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England areas.

Weekly Outcome:

It was somewhat warmer than had been modeled.
