Hey @dendrite remember the picture of that massive spider I posted back in like August that was outside above the AC unit and you don't me, "don't you dare kill it?". Well it had remained within the window ever since, even after I uninstalled. Unfortunately, it is now a popsicle, it looks like its frozen and dead within the window sill. I'm kind of sad actually. It just stayed in its little home all these months.

Attn: @dendrite and all other sensor weenies

We're dispatching the techs to DAW tomorrow to try and remedy the temp situation.

It has definitely been bad enough that it has gotten into the NBM bias correction and there is now a pixel of warmth at the ASOS at all hours. All the sensors still read as functioning normally, but our techs are wondering if the aspirator is getting clogged and not forcing enough air through. So they are hoping a good cleaning will fix it. Thursday should provide a nice well mixed day to compare it to neighboring sites.

Are they there yet? Not looking great at noon.

Bummer, wife send me a pic of water dripping from our ceiling. This happened about 1.5yrs ago and it ended up being the shower/tub drain putty upstairs had lost it's seal. We haven't used the shower in 1.5wks and she said she noticed the drip after flushing the toilet. Pretty sure it's not the wax toilet ring as I'd expect there to be water around the toilet, so thinking it must be the water supply probably leaking at one of the pex crimp connections in the ceiling. Looks like I'm going to have to start removing the pine ceiling panels to investigate. PITA.

I hate water problems, I have a huge stone fireplace that tends to leak when it rains hard, I'm up on the roof 2-3 times a year sealing it and looking for where water can sneak in, I tried flex seal this past summer and it seemed to work.

Probably one of the connections like you said. Maybe leaking shower valve in the wall?

will check also, but hate to cut the drywall. Maybe I can remove the fixture side just enough to take a peak.

Yeah not sure what kind of valve you have, but if you can just take off the face plate you may be able to see the valve and into the wall a little.

He did head there today, but I do not know the status of the cleaning yet. 2 pm and it's still running warm.

Something weird happened at BDL over the weekend where the dew point got stuck. It was running like 10 degrees cooler than surrounding stations. From what my supervisor said it sounded like it just corrected itself. Have you or your techs ever seen that happen?

That still seems high to me. We’ll give it a few days to compare

Yeah PSM is the same, but they should prob be a touch warmer than DAW....and DAW being 3-4F warmer than SFM seems a bit suspect. At least its not like 3-4F warmer than PSM now, lol.

Update: Aspirator was cleaned but they discovered a bad part which is on order.

It's about to be Hunger Games for spare ASOS parts though with a bunch set to move to the FAA and get outfit with a new package of internal parts.

Weird stuff can happen all the time with the ASOSs. Sometimes excess condensation can get stuck on the sensor, other times it can be a bad data card.

When we lived in Fort Kent (1976-85), schools there lost only 1.5 days thru that whole time.  Folks joked that it was because the superintendent lived next to the high school.  He said that was not the case.  He would send his German shepherd out to get the morning paper.  If she made it out to there, school would be open (even if he had to go and help her back to the house!)

Did Pope replace the fan with a hair dryer?

Always lots of moving parts in the school decision process.  My role is to try to give a solid forecast, highlight and discuss trends, as well as error potential, and most importantly field questions about timing, road conditions, etc... Between 4 am and 5 am I conduct 6 conference calls (mainly by county) with a total of approximately 90 districts; lots of input and discussion between districts.  As you know, there are times that some towns feature tremendous variability within the town due to major elevation differences.  Some setups are simple and no brainers? Like an event that is underway prior to morning commuter period, or will start later in the morning or afternoon.  Most bus rounds take about 2 hours to complete and a lot can change during the 2 hour period.  This past Dec. 5 event was interesting in that we had almost 100% agreement on delays, but then there was a period of enhanced snowfall rates in some areas between 6:30 and 8 am at which time several DPW groups were not confident they could get all roads in good shape by the bus roll time, which forced some delays to be converted to closures even though snowfall ending time had not changed...  I thought the article today did a good discussing many of the issues in play...

When I was in school my friends went to school in the adjacent town of Charlton, the school was up on a hill over at over 1000 elevation, they would get cancelled a lot and we still had to go. Made me want to transfer.
