We have a center staircase colonial so the stairs go up and the bend and the tree would go at the bottom next to the bends corner. It is perfect for getting the top of the tree done. The trick was finding them thin enough so they wouldn't take up the whole room. Biggest difficulty was getting it in the front door and then upright to put it into the stand. Other downside was that it was almost impossible to see the top of the tree from the couch in the room just off the atrium. You had to bend down to see the whole tree at once. We are going for trees in the 9- 10 foot range now and they are a lot easier to get into the house.

mreaves
@dryslottell me if this is a decent deal. I got 2 - 1.14 liter bottles of Crown Royal for $42 American at the duty free store on the way back from Montreal. I don’t buy it often but have a good friend who that is the drink of choice for. I bought it for a Christmas gift.

We set it up next to the stairs and the loft above so we can decorate the top half from the top floor, then carefully move it to where we want it, in the middle of the room. The results are pretty cool though. This was last years. I LOVE seeing someone else who gets Christmas trees that are NOT sheared. Every year both myself and my mom cut down trees that are left in their natural untouched state. I love the old-fashioned look to an unsheared tree, and decorate it to look vintage as well.

I usually get a bottle of bourbon, something interesting that haven’t seen before. This seemed like too good a deal though as it seems like I’ve paid $30? for one bottle before. We only have a tree when the grandkids are here for Christmas, every 2nd year, and it's set up on the front porch - with 11 people in a small house there's no place to put it unless we yanked the Jotul out from its corner. Always get a tree from our woodlot, though last year it was the top from one of the many trees blown from the lot and onto the powerlines on 12/18. Genny ran for 101 hours, longest outage for me since Jan 1953 (6 days, NNJ ice storm).

I "downsized" because I'm hosting Christmas Eve for about 28 or 30 people. How cool that you get it from your woodlot! It's always tradition for me and some family to cut ours down right after Thanksgiving, but we go to a nice treefarm.

WE have a big house but when we host my wife gets a 3 foot tree because she's not into decorating a big tree and having the cats knock all the balls off and break them. One of our cats used to climb up the tree and take a nap.
