WxWatcher007
I genuinely enjoy winter, but I cannot express how awful it is when we’re failing around here or waiting for things to change. I mean this with all sincerity—it’s by far the dumbest time of the year in wx discussion. It’s low level torture reading these boards and idk how or why I subject myself to it daily. It’s not necessarily that anyone is stirring the pot, it’s that there are irreconcilable differences, unfounded panic, and delusional optimism. Everywhere. All the time. 2 1

Are you sure it's dumber than the annual install/uninstall talk or the TP sticking vs COC talks we have? 7

It absolutely is. There’s no urgency really underlying the summer discussion. It’s filling time. Low stress. Mostly tongue in cheek. Because everyone (or like 95%) here loves snow and knows it can only happen in a short window, the anxiety is everywhere and helps drive the craziness. And I get it, but it’s crazy. lol
WinterWolf
Yup…spending less time on American Wx seems like a good idea going forward.

Here’s the problem—just can’t quit it. Between Tip’s dopamine drips and the real housewives infighting the drama is too much to look away. Hoping we get a classic Richmond to Portland crusher this winter. The ones where 95% of us get something good are so rare these days.

This isn’t a a criticism by any means, though it come off as one in written form, but just an observation: It seems like a lot of the discussion posts had stricter moderation in the past, and a lot of what stays now used to be moved into the banter forums. It also doesn’t help that we have had a number of shitty winters since the jackpot of 2014-2015. It’s hard to get good moderators these days that have the time to keep the threads organized. There’s a lot of good content here. Just ignore or block the trolling. Don’t think I could give up this place either.
CoastalWx
When there is a storm imminent, the crap in the discussion threads is cracked down. But when nothing is happening...I think some BSing is fine. We all know each other and many are friends (despite some times wanting to strangle each other).
dendrite
I’d gouge my eyes out if I didn’t have some humor mixed in to read…especially during slower times. 4 1

WxWatcher007
Humor during the lean times was the rationale for The Panic Room. We should at least be able to have fun.

Torch Tiger
that 12z gfs was somewhat ugly. Good for NNE winter activities but shyt for wx hobbyists
H2Otown_WX
Definitely getting a sinking feeling looking at the 12z runs today. Looks like we could squander the first half of the month with cold and dry followed by rain.

BuffaloWeather Posted yesterday at 12:03 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:03 AM This is the Lake Effect storm of the year if you can make it up to Lake Ontario near Watertown to chase. Pretty accessible area around the town with highways connecting the city to I81. @WxWatcher007has chased many times up there and can give you some details.

Absolute heartbreakah that it’s happening during a holiday weekend. Otherwise, I’d be in Watertown right now.
