There have been some absolute blowtorches here in recent years. I know, my new snowblower is rusting. Bought it two years ago, used it twice. H2Otown_WX
GFS looks a bit more progressive for the threat next weekend. Initially I thought it was more amplified but the ridge out west wasn't as stout so it escaped east more quickly.

mahk_webstah
We are all jaded but this is feeling like a normal December. It is supposed to snow and there are supposed to be cold outbreaks. Innocuous shortwaves coming in the ns from Canada are supposed to beef up as they get closer. Late in cold outbreaks there are supposed to be storms. Then patterns relax for a bit

HoarfrostHubb
20.1F for my morning low. Coldest of the season. Should be lower than that many of the next 5 mornings or so
CoastalWx
Still no coherent signs of anything worth tracking. The 9th-11th period still holds some hope on the gfs while euro says shut em down.
CoastalWx
Decent signal on the GEFS during that time. A bit less of a signal on the EPS. Some members like the GFS.
moneypitmike
Perhaps with the cold/stormy start of the month, the invariable relaxation could take place mid-month and we can reload in time for Christmas. What an unusual thing that would be.

CoastalWx
I know it’s been colder but Ptown at 31 for a low with a stout west wind off 50F water is decent. Getting water into upper 40s next 10 days would be good.

Despite OP run showing nada, there’s def a weak signal for a system around that same time the GFS is showing one…if we can tighten up that northern stream just a bit then we have something

The last few years, modeling can’t seem to work out what is going on until the very last minute Anyway. I mean the whole clipper thing is still not completely clear for Wednesday. 1
