SE NH is def the pork zone so far relative to climo. Areas like ASH to Derry over to DAW have been screwed pretty bad. They average double digits in December and while there’s still a couple weeks to go, they’ll keep falling behind unless a miracle happens on Friday or that Xmas system delivers.

Why are you ruling out a couple inches interior from the IVT?

I wasn’t. SE NH is unlikely to be a good spot for the upcoming system or any IVT. Best shot at an inch or two is SE MA and then maybe some IVT stuff in CT if you get lucky. I wouldn’t actually count on it though.

Dec 1968 was pretty brutal. Check out Boston’s F6 data for that month. Very cold month with over 6” of QPF and 5 inches of snow.

I remember it so well. Southern RI zero snow 6 inches of water 5 BN lots of ice skating though. Christmas was brutal don't think we got out of single digits. I have Christmas family pics with brown grass and every one bundled.

Unreal....I challenge anyone not named Will to find a winter month that featured this combination of cold with excessive QPF, yet managed to avoid snow so skillfully....probably something close in the 1980s, maybe.

@powderfreakwill have to verify for me but I think January 2014, up here, featured brutal cold interspersed with driving rain.

The 2nd half of Dec 73 we had 3 soakers up here with below zero in between.

9.93” w.e. and 3.0” snow on the month

Here comes the normal snowfall posts from a 20 sq  mile area of CT.

Most of us are solidly on the board. It could have been an at or above normal snowfall month for a larger area, we just didn't know. No one did. Could be a snowy month for January, could be a rainy month. We'll just wait and see.

Kind of the reverse for 2015 here. 93-94 was a record breaker here, and 2015 was a record breaker there.

93-94 was near record in most spots...Boston did set a record that was eclipsed in 1995-1996...ORH was close.....but my area was always caught in between. Most of the events were either CJ or elevation deals. I had 78.5"...which was decent, but nothing to write home about.

Dec '73 had almost 10 inches of QPF at ORH with 0.9 inches of snow....that's about as bad as it gets. It wasn't that cold, but it wasn't a full-on torch either. Just a bit AN....that would usually produce plenty of snow in that.
