Lots of people watching their firewood piles shrinking faster than expected.

Woodstove has eaten a lot of wood over the past couple days. When it’s colder out, you really gotta keep that internal stove temp up and when it’s that hot inside the stove, the wood almost vaporizes as you put it in, lol.

2015 I used up 5 cords and started working on the 6th cord.

5th purchased cord is tarped near the driveway, March-May wood.  The 3/4 cord from the arborist-felled basswood (plus some other stuff I cut) is long gone.

About 5" new, 12" at the stake and light SN continuing.  The rare non-Grinch!!!

thats wild .. def have a tough time seeing it happen

For these setups with strong radiating but very dry air aloft (MWN very mixed) I sometimes take the MWN dew near sunset as the HIE low. MOS has that in the lower single digits right now. It doesn’t work too well if it’s too dry…like one of those rare sub 10% RH deals where the summit is like 0/-45.

Stout inversion developing.  Mountain is above the clouds and sunny.

Valley is socked in and temp dropped down to 9F at 9am.  Odd to see it drop between 8 and 9am.

9F.

Yeah some crazy temp variations this morning. Just noticing CON was almost 10°F colder than me. BML -2F but HIE only +12F…clouds maybe?

But yeah, that inversion over the next couple of days is going to be extreme. The deepest of the rad pits will be like 15-20° cooler than the hills. Thankfully I’m usually not that cold in these setups. The valleys can have it.
