I just came across this picture from Dec 17 2016.  Apparently we had a good storm at Pit1 in GC.

That was a good storm with a solid 6-10” front ender…really nasty cold tuck with ice all the way into BOS and SE MA the next morning. Eventually we all warm sectored though in SNE except maybe the deep valleys near Hippy/Your old neck of the woods and N ORH county.

Ideal radiational cooling conditions will occur tonight, initially west and then spread east towards early Monday morning. This will allow temperatures to drop off significantly across the interior where some locations could fall close to or just below zero. These conditions should also yield lows close to 0 across the Long Island Pine Barrens

BTV might break the streak!  Longest time above 0F since 1882.

With clear skies and

I lived in North Hero in the early 2000s and remember starting my car one morning and it was -13

Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s in central VT -20’s were pretty common and -30 not rare in the colder spots. Canaan and Island Pond regularly reported -30 or more. I can remember Canaan being the coldest reading in the lower 48 numerous times.

70s and 80s cold was a different breed... Can't tell you how many stories my grandparents have told me about single digits even down in SC... can't imagine how it was here

Think even down here in VT banana belt I have had a few -25F nights since moving here(10-11years) 

That Jan 94 outbreak is crazy looking at numbers. Rutland almost got to -40F.

Yeah I’ve seen -25F to -27F on my car before at 5am starting it up and going to the Mtn.

Its not as common now it seems, but -20s still happen with some regularity.

Last February had a -21F.

5.1. Started falling again after levelling of at 5.8. 

I'm maintaining 73-75 with the stove.  No hot air heat needed yet, though the furnace is running 15 minutes/hour for the radiant floor.   But I am running the hot air every few hours to keep warm the hot water supply lines to the exchanger in the attic.  They were stupidly put within an exterior wall, and they will freeze below 10F when not running that heat.  (Next spring's project.)
