yeah, I kinda like the 3-6th more... Arctic airmass gets entrenched with a 50/50 ULL sitting nearby, block weakening and an open STJ. fireworks with this kind of look

prediction ... we'll get a significant system on the charts for the 1/2nd ... then, the 5th appears, and starts to take over for a few days.  the 2nd perhaps almost disappears in lieu of 5th...then, on dec 30 at 12z the 2nd comes roaring back and the 5th is still there but it just looks like something's oddly pulling at it.  then the 18z is the same-ish... but the 00z makes a sudden all out bomb out of the 2nd and the 5th is shredded...

or, reverse that order -

i mean, that's the song and dance, not what Tiger' just snarked -

I'm worried about the airmass for that threat, though. I think there's some kind of wave that moves through afterwards as that one you mentioned establishes a 50/50 ULL that can be a larger snow threat

I'd prefer a questionable airmass...all set with an arcric dome over se Canada...

Sheesh Is it cold. My beer is freezing. Been a while since that's happened. Guess I just got a drink faster.

Yep. Down to 7, which is the forecasted high for tomorrow. My sister is flying in from Italy tonight and we have tickets for Santa’s Village. Gonna feel like the North Pole

Siggy AN here, maybe, but not a torch.  My running average for December temps rose to 22.36° after 12/15's record 29.69.  We then had 4 straight BN months ('17 at 14.32, our coldest) that dragged the avg down to 21.64.  Then 20-23 were all AN, especially 22&23, and the avg is back to 22.34.  I expect this month to finish in the +1 to -1 range.

CON would be +3.6F through yesterday if this was the 90s. I’d probably call that “siggy AN” too given the larger winter std deviations, but it’s pushing it. Of course we’ll knock a couple off the departure the next few days. Tomorrow will be a deep winter day…may push a sub 10F mean here.

It is brutal out right now.  3F at 1500ft, wind chill -20s.

Have a fireworks display and ice skating exhibition tonight at the mountain… wind is honking hard, blowing snow, snowing arctic flakes, and it is so cold.

Down to -6F at 3,600ft.

With over a foot this month , this has been a good winter month. Not great , but good . It’s been cold and several good snow events. I was 100% wrong and I have a sneaking suspicion this winter might well be at or AN for snowfall looking at the progs ahead. This is how Dec is supposed to be. Dark, cold, snowy , low sun angle , holidays. Not the spring Morch stuff that melts before it stops falling and rapidly increasing daylight and temps and high sun angle

I agree…it’s felt like December. People leaving the house tonight bundled up and hearing the cracking of ice and seeing snow on the ground makes it feel as it should.

This f’ing blows. It’s too cold to do anything out unless you enjoy the feeling of freezing your balls off. It does feel like winter, I’ll give y’all that much. At least the daylight (the part that matters) is slowly swinging in the other direction, thank the lord for that!
