The days where SE areas continually killed it…No wonder they are really struggling of late. I mean you can’t keep a heater like that going forever. What a crazy run out that way. But maybe their fortune changes come tomorrow night/Saturday -they look to be in the best spot for this one. Let’s get em all on the board. dendrite
Yeah they don’t treat when they need to, but overdo it when it isn’t necessary. They need a lesson in radiative processes.

40/70 Benchmark
Its cool that we all had expectations in check, so the right mindset is in place, but lets not get carried away (not suggesting anyone in particular has).

Certainly Agreed about a bonafide storm..just had said I think we would see accumulating snow before the year ends/end of December. My area did Monday with close to 3”. I know not all areas did(so not trying to say or impart that). And I feel that SE areas will see some accumulation Saturday. What comes after that in the last 10 days is yet to be seen. But safe to say most didn’t have to wait til ‘25 for accumulating snow after the system on 12/5.

Haha yeah I was looking at 00z although it was the Euro that looked more interesting from a precip chance perspective. I was noting mostly that the GFS was also not all that warm temperature wise between Christmas and New Years. It looks like as bad as the 06z is it also doesn't have a huge warmup.

No, no....just to clear this up, I never would have suggested you were doing so here. Nothing wrong with reflecting on your own obs. The difference is there are certain points in the past when it seemed as though folks feel the need to counter an expressed sentiment. Ie...people just like to vent frustration when they haven't gotten jack shit, and it can piss people off when someone who did relatively well feels inclined to reply directly to said statement with "well, we did fine here". Its invalidating. When folks are pissed, they just want to feel heard because it aides in the processing of the negative emotions. It would be received much better if you simply report your own good fortune in an entirely seperate thought/response. I know this seems like psychobabble, but it really is at the heart of what triggers a great deal of bickering when some get porked. 1

That winter was lame in its first half - only 15" thru Jan 31 and a mere trace of "pack" at the Farmington co-op. 43 days later the pack was 56" (tied with 1971 for 2nd, behind 1969) as that period had 95", including storms of 18, 17, 15, 14, 13, plus several smaller ones.

tamarack
Had cold rain 7-9 last evening, an hour of nothing then resuming as snow. Accum began closer to 11 with 1.1" total and the trees nicely frosted. Some nightmare flashback from folks noting 2009-10, the winter that died here at 1 AM on Jan 3 when snow changed to rain.
Typhoon Tip
well ... irvin berlin wrote, '...dreamin' of a white christmas ...' his song was never written '...entitled to a white white christmas...' perhaps because even the ancients knew, and sung in despondency what they must rely upon for that sanctity. like, the song was always interpreted kinda wrong? it's sung as though it's like december 10 and the visions, looking onward in glowing smiles, for some nostalgia that he cannot wait to get back to... wrong! it should have been december 25th ...about 10 a.m.... and it's 34 fuckum f with cloudy turbid skies over metalic, drizzle filled gray air through the window, air that's fractured by black tree limbs. all over dead leaves. and there's this day-dreamer holding a cup of joe, drawn over with an exasperated desperate expression; he's peering out the window from in this imprisonment of kids promising to make the day a restless din of noise and stress ... now that they are puzzled with what they're supposed to do with these things called 'sleds' they just opened as christmas gifts. in that moment, he's definitely dreamin' of a white christmas

jbenedet
For Friday night, with the cold so close didn't really anticipate stacking issues but.... Highest pop in the areas with surface temps above freezing. Northeast winds.. but for BOS/ to SE MA, that's right off the GOM which in points northeast is still ~45F....
