I remember when I too used to wonder why being so positive was always frowned upon. I used to react and get bothered when someone would make a sny remark already sarcastic reply. I don't anymore. I also get some of the frustration that other s get as well. But I will tell you is is, if we get a good stretch of some good old winter, everyone will be on board and all the posts will be a good one's.

For now, it's just the same old, same old. Trying to find the best crumb on the floor...lol

It used to be more optimistic in here circa 7-10 years ago. We need a solid stretch and it will become so again. We have lots of mentally weak spoiled weenies here who can’t believe we’re taking it on the chin after out-performing our snowfall climo by like 50% over a 15 year period.

They’re everywhere these weenies.  The sad part is many of them are too young to really remember the bad times.  I mean there was a time where a foot of snow in SNE was as rare as a unicorn for many years on end.  Mixed precip events were the norm, and there were very few all snow events,  and 1-3 and 2-4 inch storms were the norm. 3-6 was a nice hit, and 4-8 was a big deal for a long time.

We also made 50% or less posts back in the day.  You only posted if you had something substantial to add to the discourse.  I wouldn’t have made this post back in the OG days.

Now we are stream of consciousness and it feels more emotional than scientific.

I'm not so sure. Plenty of whining back in the day. Just more to whine about now.

Yeah, 35 here, mist.  Feels much worse.  I got 3 cords last week.  1 cord was 90% black locust.  2nd time in three years.  I pull out about 20 good pieces for hammer handles and burn the rest, of course.  The stuff is gold to me.

Maybe I’m thinking of Wright Weather BB, or even the list-serves when it was via email even, a couple decades ago.

Coming out of the 1990s, the vibes seemed upbeat.  But maybe that was just because people were discovering the internet and that they could chat with like minded people.  Now everyone is fine throwing their emotions out there online.

This has been unequivocally the worst stretch in modern times. It’s been like those karate videos that show some guy hitting his balls with a brick. You have no idea how disheartening it’s been. It’s  taken almost three years to get what Tamarack has had in 12 days.

In that context, yeah the forum vibe/dynamics make sense.

The line of have-beens and have-nots has been very consistent in recent years, bisecting the New England forum.  In the 2000s and 2010s, the goods seemed more spread out.

There’d be suppression depression up here at times, with legit cold… it really all comes back to the air-masses.  We just can’t sustain that good, deep cold, as a region over a multiyear period.

Now the northern and interior latitudes have been just inside the snow line over numerous events the past few years.

I've seen more snow in the past 11 months than I have in my entire life in the South, others can call me a weenie or moonshine all ya want, for me mood flakes are mood flakes and nothing to complain about. Seeing only 1 day of snow every 8 years humbles someone quick.

19.5" of snow in 29 years across 4 events (one of which I don't count since I was in Gatlinburg for it)

That's it

Hell, I am almost at that in the last 10 days (10.5") and got an outside chance of hitting it by the end of the month. I understand that the last few winters have been rattlers by most people's (ie. New England natives) standards, but I am content with reloading 1-3" events every few days, this weather spoils me but I keep an apple mind of how long I had to go without it. So, sorry in advance to anyone who gets upset by me posting LR images (feel free to block me like a +NAO, won't hurt my feelings none), but someone got to be the optimist to counteract the Debby downers

I don’t live in a very snowy location compared to the interior, but to go so long with London like climo is to say the least, depressing.

Well coming from gator land, I get why you’d be happy with a coating. But I don’t think that argument holds water given your move.

And yes, we will give you shit for posting day 12 op runs. That’s a given. I don’t care if you came from Hudson Bay or Hilton Head….thats game for getting some shit.  :)

Best firewood we can get around here, I like Beech too but that's even harder to get.
