Feel bad for you man. Completely pessimistic and already have written Winter off before it even started.

We talking about Dec in here, not the entire season, and the pattern is cold and dry first half. If frozen crabgrass lawns tickle some then the bar is set very, very low.

So your call is cold and dry for first half(two weeks)of December?  Interesting.

Modeling can’t figure out a storm 3 days from now, but you’re sure it’s dry for the first half of December.  Kind of like we were sure that the first half of December was showing no change 3 weeks ago.   Good to know.

Yeah.. I'm aware what the topic is. But I'm also aware of your pessimism. If you think I'm wrong, than tell me otherwise.

Listen.. I'm not here to sprinkle you with positive vibes, but, don't write something off that hasn't begun.

Yea. I know you don’t look at models but when it is cold, it’s dry. And when the precip comes, we wet. It’s an interior look with front passages and upslope mountain snows. Maybe we’ll see flakes. And I admit the LR looks really good at H5 but we’ve seen this movie plot before…

If you are aware of topic then why would you perceive my comment of cold and dry as writing off an entire winter?

Pessimism of more than a 4wk winter is not equivalent to writing off an entire season. It’s gonna snow eventually, I promise you that.

It’s a lil different look this time, as Will explained to Kevin a day or two ago, which was a very good explanation on how this looks different than the other looks.   I won’t bore you with the details, since your obviously incredibly jaded from the last few years.

But ya…H5 doesn’t guarantee anything, but it’s still easier to get something when you have a good trough, and good cold entrenched and established.  I’ll roll the dice with that any day.  If nothing works out, oh well. And I’ll admit you called it dry.

I see the look. I read all the pro’s thoughts. Hopefully I am wrong and the first half produces several plowables like you expect.

Even if it produces one plowable…(the last 3 seasons have been so lousy), that’ll be decent with the cold in place.

A few weeks ago nobody saw this coming, so I’m happy we have this pattern in front of us.  And All bad periods come to an end, maybe this could be the beginning of something positive for SNE/NNE this season.

After the last few winters I would call that optimistic.

I don’t understand all the pessimism. Last fall it was justified, seasonal guidance had a torch for December and we had a raging Nino. This year we have seasonal guidance trending towards normal to below normal temps and we are in ENSO neutral. The long range guidance is COLD to start December. I try to be objective, I was pessimistic all of last winter and even in the fall my expectations were extremely low for the upcoming winter. Things look different this year. Sure, things look somewhat dry to start the month but all it takes is one storm with cold in place. The longer the temps are below average, the more likely we are to have something break our way.

A few more years of unrelenting failure will fix this attitude. Wolfman will be as hairless as Kev by the time regime change mercifully happens in the 2030s.

I would rather have snow too but cold and dry is better than having above average temps during the winter. There is nothing worse than above normal temps during the winter. That said, one moderate snow event would make a huge difference. Given the BN temps, the snow would stick around for a while.

Well not sure where that is coming from... even in northern CT Snow in December before Christmas is pretty rare, and in the WeHa area quite a bit more so.  Not the norm for sure unless you're talking snow showers etc. I like the upcoming look in general, but would rather see it showing after the 15th or so.
