ShawnEastTN Posted yesterday at 12:01 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:01 AM Dry air is being a bit of a battle in the low elevations of the valley but starting to be overcome here. Saw my first flurries, 38 degrees. The number of reports are impressive, all the way west to Jackson.
John1122 Posted yesterday at 12:22 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:22 AM There was a break on radar, then it's filled back in and it's snowing harder now. Up to nickel sized flakes. 32 degrees.

ShawnEastTN Posted yesterday at 12:48 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:48 AM Still getting virga’d here Yeah I saw it flurry here down the road from you for about 3 minutes total then it ended. Hopefully it'll get a bit more saturated here as more and more moisture makes its way East.

ShawnEastTN Posted yesterday at 01:15 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:15 AM It's reaching the ground here. Decent snow shower here now, not like that though. That's awesome!!! You might really score with this.

bearman Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM We are getting nothing here in Knoxville. Always in these situations we seem to just get blanked as it comes off the Plateau and our mosture just dries up. Seems we use to score from these systems when I was younger but those days seem to be gone. I live right in the center of the valley. Radar seems to be filling in good in the Eastern valley maybe they can do good east of me towards the mountains.
Jed33 Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Just started to see some light snow here. Radar looks pretty good for us for the time being. Flakes are pretty good size. The temp is down to 32.

Jed33 Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM Just like that, it’s really coming down now! Temp down to 30 dp up to 28. Nickle and quarter sized flakes! Carvers Gap Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM Pretty good thump here IMBY...probably between .5-0.75" of snow. Nice band hit which overperformed. It snowed yesterday as well w/ no accumulation. We had the trace a few days back. That is three times it has snowed so far. Good start. 6
John1122 Posted yesterday at 02:46 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:46 AM Have around an inch. More than I expected. Snow is steady but small flakes, 28 degrees. 75 is a mess as are other highways in the area.
John1122 Posted yesterday at 03:06 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:06 AM It was enough to close schools across the Northern border counties. So plenty of happy kids and sad parents.
dwagner88 Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM It’s even snowing a bit down here tonight. I would say this overperformed. 5

Carvers Gap Posted yesterday at 11:27 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:27 AM Lots of schools closed up here this morning. I would say I have an 1.5-2" of snow on the table out back. 6
fountainguy97 Posted yesterday at 01:36 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:36 PM I can't believe it but I woke up to double what the NAM had for me. Although I was skeptical of the low totals considering the NAM had 8hrs of snow in the mid-20s. Pleasantly surprised this morning! This 4.5" (adding what is still falling) of snow is more snow than the last two winter totals. 5
TheClimateChanger Posted yesterday at 03:45 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:45 PM Looks like a decent snowfall out there in eastern Tennessee this morning. Was just viewing the Ober Gatlinburg webcam. Definitely blowing the snow out, but also plenty of natural flakes flying in the air.

John1122
It ended up steadily snowing until about 5 am here, tiny flakes once it got below 30 but I ended up with 1.75 inches.

Great start to the winter. It was ripping last night around 10:00. Very unexpected. Orographic lift maybe? The past few days remind me of 14-15 where everything seemed to over-perform.

Man, after getting inexplicably blanked for multiple events last year....Unicoi is back to digging out from NW flow events. 1
