Reading on scannerfood that some ice has developed in the mountains with the onset of this rain.  ZR has caused multiple wrecks.  Wise,  VA, has reported ice as maybe some areas in W NC.

Suspected that as still alot of Snow in Valley's in Northern Lee and Wise Counties. Surprised KMRX didn't put an advisory out.

We had some small isolated bands of snow come through north Mississippi and southwest Tennessee early this morning.  In Hardeman county near Middleton, Tn had a nice dusting of snow this morning, roads and grass all covered.  Same thing in the Collierville/Piperton areas of southeast Shelby county.

Mid-level clouds Chattanooga.

Houston Hobby (middle of town) 27 deg. SN+ which is unbelievable down there. Not wet snow. Dry blowing Midwest snow and 4+ inches coming. Isolated 6 at those ratios. Then 6+ is coming to Nola. Time to live vicariously in the Central/West region.

Blizzard Warning Gulf Coast Beaumont to Lake Charles! This a truly special event down there.

Glad you posted that Knoxtron. I was able to see so high resolution evidence for the snow band that sets up to the lee of Chimney Top mt

purple funnel indicates a faint trace of a band that then gets enhanced just before the 3000' peak (black circle), then a little bit of downsloping, then it picks back up again, but with a slightly different trajectory (red line)

I threw some mapping over it on GOES 16 and it looks like it goes through N. Johnson City/ Boone's Creek?

I was also able to see the one we sometimes see near west Knoxville, intro Blount county:

It comes down to the lee of the Cumberland mts like Cross Mt and Frozen head then seems to split in to, with perhaps some TN River enhancement and Bluff mt. Black circle is, I think Mt. Leconte, based on the three peaks

Looks to me like the northern of those two bands aims at Sevierville:

Ha!  Yeah, man, I drove through that exact TRI area yesterday.  It was how I would imagine a lake effect band (only much less!).  There was a dusting and then 1-2" of snow all at once.  It was probably 2-3 miles west of I-26.  Definitely was related to some type of Bays Convergence.

Morning Low of Zero here. Report of 2 below in Dryden, just NE of Pennington gap. Some deep snow covered Valleys were 5-10 below. I went just north of Pennington gap this Morning through the Gap of Stone Mountain up Hy 421( half mile North of Pennington) and there's plenty of Snow through there.

Virga passed over Chatty. It was actually pretty from the Interstate but I could not safely take a pic.

Also not pictured, a small pile of snow remains at the shaded corner of my driveway from Fri. Jan. 10 snow. Two weeks!
