Absolutely! With sunshine! Like the many Georgia Christmases I enjoyed before moving to Naperville. If this winter shakes out like the last one, I’m not sure my snowblower is worth it for the one week it gets used.

15-16 was the super nino wasn't it?

Yes. Actually, there were a few decent wintry periods in Jan, Feb, & early Mar 2016. Nothing great, but better than some other super ninos. But Dec 2015 was absolute torch. Nov was warm too, tho we did luck into a snowstorm locally.

DT is your man this winter.    Riding the positive TNH pattern for the winter which is what drove the winter of '13-'14.

Good luck!

DT can definitely be a trip, but he is somewhat subjective unlike coldmisers like JB or some of the warmistas you'll see on the main weather forum of this board that forecast with nothing but their biases.

Ive said it many times before and will say many times again...we will have harsh winters again, but we will never have another 2013-14. It was a harsh winter for all in the midwest and northeast, but SE MI was basically ground zero.

Don't look at the 00z Euro, but it caves to the GFS as the cold in the medium-long range is all gone, hinting at a possible Christmas torch beyond the 360th hour. sfct-imp.us_ov.png:axe:

there's a lot of art to your trolling, but consistently posting the wrong regional section from pivotal is definitely your warhol

I feel like this would be the perfect thing to set the mood other than the part where it melts or gets rained on in two days. Beggers can't be choosers tho so please keep trending right babeee

Believe me....I'd love to be wrong. But 2013-14 was a once in a lifetime winter.

Yeah, that was tongue-in-cheek due to some even mentioning 13-14 as an analog for this winter which I see has been dragged thru the mud here since I replied, lol. Didn't even know DT was still out there either. This was the sentiment back when I used to follow his site:

Didn't someone state December hasn't been a prime winter month in Chicago area going on a decade now. Warmth return seemed inevitable.

the famed and over hyped brutal chicago winters are really down these days, it's the dark that gets ya anyways

zzzzzz and getting worse
wouldn't be surprised to see snow coverage in the lower 48 and record lows come xmas

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. I think the distribution will certainly be narrow. The mountain West, far north states, and the northeast away from the coast will probably rack up some snow. Great Lakes folks outside of the snowbelt will have to wait until January. We will however get a few rounds of liquid snow so at least we have that.

The single digit lows on Thursday will be brutal. December will be a mixed bag. So it depends on the definition of prime winter. If we’re talking snow, it’s been a decade of decline. Maybe things change.

Atleast it looks reasonably warm in the coming weeks. It seems we either get cold and suppression or se Ridge flexes it's muscles and it's congrats those west of the lakes.
