The Ole Bucket
If the NWS is gonna be stubborn and not move the warning to Ste Gen county, I'm setting the bar at 4" for this thing.
westhope84
So nice to have an event overperform in our region, and it’s my favorite kind of snowfall—Currier & Ives style. I hope everyone enjoys the storm. It’s been an interesting event to watch unfold.

rockchalk83
Good luck everyone! Snow just beginning to fall here in Wichita, looking at 3 to 5 inches before it’s all over.

Hah! They finally expanded it. First time since moving here about 3 years ago that we’ve had 2 warnings within a single week

The Waterboy
How is it that NWA gets stuck in the middle of the dry air donut hole??? Ugh!!!
stormdragonwx
Yeah looks like we are getting what Tulsa got a year or so ago... As I feared.

That’s not really what happened in Tulsa. Tulsa had moisture, just no cold. I wouldn’t worry in NWA yet.

MUWX
There is some very heavy snow across Oklahoma. I don’t see any reason for NWA to panic

rockchalk83
46 minutes ago, MUWX said: Portions of the Wichita forecast area just got upgraded Yeah, we did. The interesting thing about this system is that the upper level feature is in a more closed low setup, which leads to slower progression and more lift for snow. Already 4-6" across the Wichita metro, with probably another 6-8 hours of snow to go. Someone is getting 10+" in south-central Kansas.
MoWeatherguy
Only 1" here in Bella Vista at 9pm. We haven't had any good banding at all here. We might eek out a couple of more if we're lucky.
JoMo
In a decent band in Joplin right now. Coming down at a fairly good pace. Probably 2-3" or so, so far.

The heavier stuff east of Tulsa never shifts to the east.

If you’re already at two inches, it feels like the forecast is pretty much on track to verify perfectly, no?
stormdragonwx
Dry air intrusion has been an issue driving down rates and the overall size of the flakes themselves in NW AR. Though over the past 30 mins I have noticed the snow has started to back build and fill the dry slot thats been streaming over the Vance and Fredrick radar sites out in Oklahoma. Apparently Kiowa, KS and the Amarillo, TX metro got 10-12" respectively. Go to those radar sites and you will see a pretty hefty band on the back side of this system with its wraparound. Now whether it dries up before it gets over here is another story. EDIT: Actually the band extends all the way back to Lubbock, TX and Clovis, NM

Probably so. Just stating it’s been interesting to have light, but steady flakes since about 5:00. Nothing really heavy. I still think 5-6” is very doable. Sounds like some areas around Fort Smith and south will hit a foot or more. I also think Muskogee/Tahlequah also has some juicy totals when it’s all over. stormdragonwx
Just noticed Tulsa revised up the totals again on their DSP page after dropping them earlier this evening when the 00z models came out. Hmmm
