NwWhiteOut
Hard to guess here too with all the drifting, still snowing at a decent clip. Couple spots out of the wind on the side of the house measured 6-7" . I'm glad its the fluffy type, easier to shovel lol!!! Hope all of you are doing well!

Thanks man I am ok, just a busy hectic life the past few years....moved a couple miles (still in the same general area) and been busy doing all that for the past 5 months. Great to hear from you too again my friend! How much snow you think ya got up that way?

This was a bust overall IMO.
stormdragonwx
Only picked up 6-7 inches here in Fayetteville. Was hard to measure accurately due to the blowing snow. So the crazy forecast trend did bust as I suspected. Dry air intrusion along with warmer midlevels turning the precip into a snow/sleet mix at times cut down on totals quite a bit. The Ole Bucket
I could complain that we didn't get more, but what's the point? A decent result here in southeast Missouri (about 6") and bitterly cold this morning.
GSwizzle83
Wound up with 6" here... I think. Lots of drifting. If the models hadn't looked so promising we would all have been excited with this result. That's the expectation game, I guess. I do think that there are some questions I still have about the models missing this. There were some signals, I agree. I think compaction and solar radiation may have played a role, too, because the flakes were so small. I don't know if that is part of the issue or not in the cold. Worth considering. I guess that is why this hobby is never boring. Lucy is always waiting around the corner to move the football...

I think it was so cold & dry in the snow growth zone it didn’t take much moisture to make those flakes. Hence, why they were so small. The small flakes could have led to some minor compaction, but that’s a process generally left for heavy, wet snow.

I meant that compaction was an issue because of the size of the flakes and not that the flake size led to solar radiation lowering totals. For example, just saw the SGF recorded .75" of liquid equivalent yet only had a little over 6" of snow.

Was definitely low ratio, fine sand snow here as well.

We got about what I was expecting in Norman, with just under an inch of snow.

Chinook
I may guess this is the largest area of the USA that has been covered with extreme cold warnings. This specific warning seems to have replaced wind chill advisories/warnings this year. (Not really sure if this change took effect last fall or something.)
