If you’re already at two inches, it feels like the forecast is pretty much on track to verify perfectly, no?

Well, if you believe the short term models like HRRR we should build another 3" or so the next 5 hrs. That would put me at the lower end of forecast and on track.  But, do those bands hold together is the question.  They haven't all night in this region.

I think I saw Wichita officially received 5.9" at the airport. I'm sure amounts vary quite a bit the with the banding nature of this snow. Looks to be about 5" of new snow at my house on the southeast side of Wichita. What an exciting storm considering it looked like we were on the fringe with 1-2" initially forecast. Hi-Res models started picking up on the heavy band of snow over SC Kansas and boy did it come through. Happy to see many others were able to cash in as well!

It must have really came down after I went to bed as I measured just shy of 3 inches. Got just shy of 7 inches on the east side of Fayetteville with the wraparound still moving in.

Same for me in Bentonville.   We got 4” after 10:30 last night.  Just measured between 6-7” total.

Checking in after a serene and beautiful snowy night in Tulsa.

It looks like we picked up around 5-6 inches of snow in Owasso on the north side of Tulsa and it was still snowing on my way to work this morning, so we might have added another 1/2 inch.

Southern side of town got closer to 6-7.

It's very rare we get a model trend change in the last 24 hours that drastically IN OUR FAVOR. We went from 1-3 inches predicted in Tulsa, to 4-6 predicted.

Other places on this forum got an even more drastic snowfall prediction change.

It reminds me of when I was a kid in the early 2000's. I loved the weather just as much back then, but as a 10 year old in 2000, I didn't have access to weather models, etc. I just sat in front of the TV watching the weather channel or every local news station, obsessing over any minor change. So it was easier back then to be surprised by a storm in a good way, because I simply didn't have the models at my fingertips like I do now.

So this storm felt like a nice throwback.

My tantrum the other day must have worked! Absolutely perfect snow! We have about 7 inches here on the south side of Tulsa! Soooo happy! And so are my Pyrenees this morning. Our conversation:

Me: "Walker, Missy...come inside!"

Them: "Did she say something. Don't hear a thing!" LOL

I remember the days before weather models were online. A local TV station had a phone number you could call to get the weather forecast via recording from their weatherman. I used to call it about every 5-10 minutes when snow was expected to see if anything had changed or to just hear "The chance of snow is near 100%." Got excited every time. Eventually graduated to watching TWC, still remember some of those elevator/jazz music 'local on the 8's' sounds. Different world today with how easy it is to access the computer models though.

I watched the neighbors dog in its first snowfall zoomie around for a bit before he realized it was cold, and then he headed right back to the door.

That "weather on the 8's" was classic.  Remember it very well.  They had some great personalities on TWC.

I just found out there's a website dedicated to saving the old songs and images and videos from TWC. They even list where some of the TWC personalities are now. Has all the jazz music they used long ago as well. If I ever get really bored or nostalgic, I'll have to listen to some of the clips and see if I can't identify a couple I remember really well but don't know the name of. Website is twcclassics.com

Is it too soon to be talking about this already?

The big 3 are all sniffing something next weekend.

This one seems like big boom/bust potential. Signal is there but of course the track is what is gonna matter most. For sure going to be COLD again behind it. Would be a shame to lose all this snowpack when the temps get into the upper 40s next Thurs/Fri and then get 33F, cold rain.. followed by single-digit lows.

I remember the good old days of TWC as well.  I used to have a NOAA radar detector that would play a recorded forecast from NWS Tulsa.   It would update around lunchtime every day.

As Nate Bargatze says - I’m from the 1900’s.

Bottom line in this reminiscing is:

Some of us (me included) are getting old!

If you younger folks don’t know what we’re talking about, enjoy your youth!!!
