How are the autumn leaf colors currently looking in NC and other areas in relation to peak?

Down here the first leaves have only just started to turn and hardly any have fallen. Thus a peak here in early to possibly as late as mid Dec would be my guess. The late week cooldown with coldest lows getting to down ~40 should really wake them up. The lowest in much of this region to date has been down only to the mid to upper 40s, with upper 40s the climo avg for today.

How are the autumn leaves looking in N GA and the W Carolinas? Are they running way behind? Have they hit peak yet?

Way too late for the Mountains at this point. They are pretty much in stick season up there. As for out here in the Raleigh area it was a bad year due to an extended dry stretch. There was some color but a lot of early leaf drop with some trees just browning out. We have a second wave of color happening now with any trees that have remaining leaves.

Front came thru at 1:30 am with a 10 degree drop in temp and 25 degree drop in dew points in 30 minutes. Big winds never materialized here. Currently at 8:30 am it is 48/34. Looks like we will see our first 30's tomorrow morning with lows predicted into the mid 30's.

A pretty wild elevation dependent snow event coming for NE PA, the forecast is calling for 1-2" for Scranton at about 1,000 feet of elevation and for a foot of snow above 2,000 feet. That would be torture!

The good news is they get snow more frequently than the once every 3 or 4 years we are at now.

We failed to make it down to freezing in Raleigh so it does look like that record will fall.

34.2 here was the low. Think the clouds got us. Sunday morning will feature another chance at freezing

We picked up 0.26” of rain before the front

Coldest lows of the season to date in this area with low 40s (41 at KSAV). Even colder expected tonight with the secondary push of cold air. Also, highs only in the 50s for today forecasted.
