I'd love to be up there but I'm not sure about the drive yet. We'll see. I'm hoping it trends colder. I'm planning on chasing a lake effect event if one happens. I've always wanted to explore a raging snow banner. I might save the long drive for that adventure. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe if I head up there I'll see ya. Just look for the guy wondering around in the snow smoking a joint. I also do the lakes - nothing is as intense as LES. I did a chase in the Sierra last winter which was epic but paled to being under an Erie/Ontario band. You’ll know I’m @Snowshoe because my truck with (albeit not perfectly laid out, but still cool imo) plates will be in the lot with a guy shoveling for fun.

If I can get my snow fix out of the way before Thanksgiving this year I'll be pretty happy. We'll be at just over 3k ft elevation, hopefully we get mostly snow.

midatlanticweather
Wild experience on my walk! I would get down to the bottom of a hill in a small area and the winds were calm and the temps pretty chilly. I would walk to the top of hills and there would be a warm breeze and temps were likely 5+ degrees warmer. It was like I would get to the top of the hill and someone turned on the heater with the air blowing.. get to the bottom of the hill and there was no wind and much cooler.

There's a spot in a county park near me where the path drops maybe 8-10' as it turns along a creek and it's very often noticeably cooler than on the path before you make that drop. There's another little hill with a 12-15' incline right around the corner, so I think any cool air bleeds down and collects in an area with little to no air movement. It's a pretty cool little feature!

PhatStorm
Areas including mine in Highland County VA. Much needed. Drought here very serious. Many springs here dried up this summer including the one that provides water to my house. Fortunately I am able to haul water here weekly from a flowing nearby spring. Farmers here say drought here is hard to break without snowfall so this could be a sign of things to come.
